Fox 2013-14 Season Ratings (updated 9/16/14)

16 September 2014 1:36 PM, PDT | TVSeriesFinale.com | See recent TVSeriesFinale news »

Many of Fox's series have already been renewed for another season. What does the future hold for the rest of their TV shows? Cancelled or renewed for 2014-15? We'll have to wait and see.

New Fox shows (so far): Almost Human, Brooklyn Nine-Nine, Dads, MasterChef Junior, and Sleepy Hollow.

Returning shows (so far): American Dad!, Bob's Burgers, Bones, Family Guy, Glee, The Mindy Project, New Girl, Raising Hope, The Simpsons, and The X Factor.

How does Fox decide what to cancel or renew? They look at a lot of different factors but the ratings play a very large role. The higher the ratings, the better chances a show has of surviving. Here's how the network's shows are doing so far: »

TV Ratings: Bears-49ers action leads NBC past Miss America on Sunday

15 September 2014 8:45 AM, PDT | Hitfix | See recent Hitfix news »

Fast National ratings for Sunday, September 14, 2014. NBC's Sunday Night Football telecast of a close game between the Bears and 49ers dominated a Sunday that also saw NFL coverage boost CBS, so-so numbers for Miss America and the penultimate Fox week for "American Dad." Between NBC's live football and roughly a 50-minute NFL overrun for CBS, Sunday numbers are, as always, preliminary and subject to change. On to those numbers... Among adults 18-49, NBC averaged a 6.3 rating for Sunday night, far ahead of the 3.2 rating for CBS in the key demographic. Fox's 1.2 key demo rating and the 1.1 key demo rating for ABC trailed for the night. Overall, NBC averaged an estimated 16.495 million viewers and a 9.6 rating/16 share for Sunday primetime. CBS was a distant second with 11.475 million viewers and a 7.0/12. And, again, there was a big drop to ABC's 5.35 million viewers and a 3.4/6 and to Fox's 2.685 million viewers and a 1.6/3. 7 p. »

Fall TV reviewing plans

11 September 2014 6:00 AM, PDT | Hitfix | See recent Hitfix news »

The network TV season doesn't officially start until September 22, but fall TV is already here. "Boardwalk Empire" and "Sons of Anarchy" came back earlier this week, Fox is doing a few premieres next week, and all but a handful of notable summer series are either over or (in the case of a few Sunday night dramas) will be over by the end of the month. This is, as you may have gathered from skimming Fienberg's annual Take Me to the Pilots series of not-reviews, not the most exciting fall for new series — or, at least, for new pilots. (As I discussed a few years back, TV criticism at this time of year is as much voodoo as it is actual analysis, as you have to guess which pilots are representative of what's to come, which shows might get better, and which shows might get worse.) There aren't a ton of genuinely awful shows, »

CBS swept Sunday primetime with "60 Minutes," "Big Brother," Unforgettable" and "Reckless," comfortably winning the slow Labor Day Weekend night in all measures. Among adults 18-49, CBS averaged a 1.1 rating for Sunday night, tops in the key demographic. Fox's 0.7 key demo rating was second, followed by NBC's 0.5 key demo rating and the 0.4 key demo rating for ABC. Fxx's Every Simpsons Ever Marathon: Day 12 - HitFix Picks

31 August 2014 8:00 PM, PDT | Hitfix | See recent Hitfix news »

[As you probably already know, starting on Thursday, August 21, Fxx is running the Every Simpsons Ever Marathon, running through all 552 episodes of "The Simpsons," plus "The Simpsons Movie." To aid in your viewing process, Team HitFix is selecting our favorite episodes from each day, plus an episode or two that you can skip and use as a bathroom or nap break.] It's all over! Day 12 of Fxx's Every Simpsons Ever takes us from "A Totally Fun Thing That Bart Will Never Do Again" through "The Yellow Badge of Cowardge" and that's the end of the road for "The Simpsons," at least so far.  To close things out, we have five Day 12 recommendations and only one to skip. And I'm probably going to be using this day to catch up on a few episodes I missed from last season when there was just too much TV on Sunday nights to catch "The Simpsons" every week. [I'd also add that "Bob's Burgers" has, for me, usurped "The Simpsons" as Fox's funniest Sunday comedy and the one I seek out first on Hulu or OnDemand. "Bob's Burgers" earned that Emmy this year. But let's see what "Bob's Burgers" looks like in Season 25.] We've had a lot of fun going on this 12-day journey and I hope that these »

TV Ratings: Bengals-Cardinals NFL preseason and a 'Big Brother' high lead Sunday

25 August 2014 9:04 AM, PDT | Hitfix | See recent Hitfix news »

Fast National ratings for Sunday, August 24, 2014. A season high for "Big Brother" delivered Sunday's best individual performance among young viewers, but it was an NFL preseason game between the Bengals and Cardinals that led NBC to Sunday ratings victories. Among other Sunday notables, "Rising Star" rose a tiny bit in its season finale and "Unforgettable" was also up a hair. Note that Fox had NFL preseason overrun, skewing its early-evening results, while NBC will have the normal live event uncertainty. We'll also have to wait until later for major cable results, including the series finale for HBO's "True Blood" and MTV's Video Music Awards coverage. On to the numbers... Among adults 18-49, NBC averaged a 1.8 rating for Sunday night, tops in the key demographic. CBS was second with a 1.3 key demo rating, followed by Fox's 1.0 key demo rating. The Best Shows and Stars That Won’t Even Be at the Emmys This Year

22 August 2014 8:30 AM, PDT | Vulture | See recent Vulture news »

The 66th Annual Primetime Emmys are Monday, and plenty of wonderful — and some staggeringly wonderful — shows and performers will no doubt walk away with armloads of awards. But many will not. Many terrific, thrilling shows and performers were not even nominated, if you can believe it. Such is life. Let us now air those grievances. For comedies, it's great that Bob's Burgers won outstanding animated program at the Creative Arts Emmys, but plenty of us consider that the best comedy on TV right now, cartoon or no. (Archer has its mega-supporters, too.) Parks and Recreation has such a solid place in my heart it's hard to believe the Academy doesn't feel the same. Shows like the execrable Episodes rack up nominations, while Broad City gets nothing. I don't actually expect Broad City to be nominated for an Emmy, but I wish it would be, since the show's so damn good. »

The Winners of the Creative Arts Emmys Are Here

18 August 2014 8:16 AM, PDT | Moviefone | See recent Moviefone news »

So the big Emmys don't air until next Sunday night and at Moviefone we will have, of course, full coverage. But last night the Creative Arts Emmys were handed out, for the people that are largely responsible for making these shows that you absolutely love -- you know, the behind-the-scenes talent tasked with conceptualizing and realizing your favorite programs. Oh -- and some guest actor and actresses awards were handed out, so there's that too!

In the Outstanding Guest Actress in a Comedy Series category Uzo Aduba took home the prize for "Orange is the New Black." Since we are, very shamefully, one of a handful of Americans who hasn't seen a single second of "Orange in the New Black," this doesn't mean a whole lot to us, but we are very happy for her! (We promise, we'll watch soon.) For the Outstanding Guest Actor in a Comedy Series, the »

The first round of 2014 Emmy Awards were handed out at the Creative Arts Emmys ceremony on Saturday (August 16) night at the Nokia Theatre in Los Angeles.  The ceremony, which precedes the Monday, August 25 Primetime Emmy Awards telecast, offered signs of hope for a number of drama and comedy hopefuls. Netflix's "Orange Is The New Black," for example, won Emmys for editing, series casting and for Uzo Aduba, who is considered a guest actress for the purposes of these awards. No other comedy series was able to build any other momentum going into next week's show, with "The Big Bang Bang Theory," "Nurse Jackie," "How I Met Your Mother" and "Brooklyn Nine-Nine" grabbing isolated tech prizes and Jimmy Fallon winning the Guest Actor in a Comedy Series award for the second time in three years for his "Saturday Night Live" hosting duties.
