If a film gets a Cinemascore of B or C, it's often classed as a disappointment. But what is a Cinemascore?
The process of marketing a movie is now an operation that lasts many months across all sorts of media, from bus stop posters to social media campaigns, all in pursuit of making sure the movie makes an impact in its opening weekend. Tracking and analytics can give an indication of how audiences are responding before the movie even hits cinemas, but it's only in that opening weekend, once they've actually seen the movie, that you can get a more accurate read on public opinion.
Box office aside, one way in which Hollywood's studios reads public response after release is Cinemascore, the Las Vegas-based market research firm which conducts nationwide exit polls. Billed as “Hollywood's Benchmark”, the company's researchers gathers information from filmgoers and the results, expressed as letter grades, »

I was a bit unsure what to think upon first hearing the news about the upcoming expansion of the string-less killer puppet universe, but some of the names and production companies attached have my interest officially piqued.
Check out the key art and official details below.
From The Press Release
Di Bonaventura Pictures (1408, Transformers) and Caliber Media (Dark Was The Night, Some Kind Of Hate) partnered up to option the rights to develop a brand new take on Charles Band’s cult classic horror film franchise Puppet Master. Like most pre-teens and teenagers who grew up with spending their weekend nights at the video store picking out what films you were going to watch over the weekend, I watched a lot of Full Moon films. While there were plenty of franchises out of the Full Moon universe, the one that stuck with me was the Puppet Master franchise. I think Puppet Master III is the best entry with the latest entries severely lacking in progressing and getting to the point of saying “who cares”.
Last year, at Fantastic Fest, I saw the closing night film, Bone Tomahawk starring Kurt Russell and was blown away by it. I would later find out the man who wrote and directed the film wrote a independent film called Asylum Blackout. That man is S. Craig Zahler. This past weekend was Texas Frightmare Weekend in Dallas, TX and some interesting news came out »

A woman with amnesia from a crash returns to her family home and tries to work out who she was before her accident and why her family are behaving so strangely towards her.
Touching on the subject of class and the insular nature of family in the upper classes, Estranged is a curious British thriller about January (Amy Manson – Pumpkinhead: Blood Feud), a vibrant young woman having the time of her life travelling through Brazil with her boyfriend Callum (Simon Quarterman – The Devil Inside) when she is flung from their scooter during a crash. Surviving but suffering from amnesia and needing a wheelchair until she regains the use of her legs, January returns to her isolated family mansion deep in the British countryside with Callum but the »

Covert Affairs alum Oded Fehr and Fernanda Andrade (The Devil Inside) have joined the cast of Marvel’s Most Wanted ABC pilot. Fehr’s role is described only as “a well-known character from the Marvel comics who will prove a force to be reckoned with.” Andrade is Christina Santos, the tough-as-nails niece of Dominic Fortune (Delroy Lindo). Fortune and Santos work side-by-side appearing to help Barbara "Bobbi" Morse, aka Mockingbird (Adrianne Palicki), and Lance Hunter (Nick… »
Thanks to Spoiler TV, we’ve got a look at some early key art for Marvel’s Most Wanted, the upcoming ABC pilot which is a spinoff from Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. and revolves around the characters of Bobbi Morse (Adrianne Palicki) and Lance Hunter (Nick Blood). Take a look…
Meanwhile, the site is also reporting that Oded Fehr (The Mummy) and Fernanda Andrade (The Devil Inside) have both signed on to appear in the pilot in as-yet-undisclosed roles, where they’ll feature alongside the previously announced Delroy Lindo as Dominic Fortune.
Marvel’s Most Wanted centres Bobbi Morse (a.k.a. Mockingbird) and Lance Hunter of “Marvel’s Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D., two ex-spies and ex-spouses who are on the run with no friends, no S.H.I.E.L.D. and a long list of enemies looking to claim a bounty on their heads. Spoiler TV has discovered that both Oded Fehr (The Mummy) & Fernanda Andrade (The Devil Inside) have joined the cast of Marvel's Most Wanted, though no other details are provided. They join Adrianne Palicki as Bobbi Morse/Mockingbird, Nick Blood as Lance Hunter, and Delroy Lindo as Dominic Fortune. The site has also come across the above logo, which is most likely just preliminary artwork and will probably be altered/replaced before the show airs. Marvel’s Most Wanted was created and written by Agents Of S.H.I.E.L.D. Ep Jeffrey Bell and writer Paul Zbyszewski, with Jeph Loeb also on board as executive-producer. »
The events of last night’s episode of Agents Of S.H.I.E.L.D. certainly seemed to be setting up the Marvel’s Most Wanted spinoff show, as Agents Bobbi Morse (Adrianne Palicki) and Lance Hunter (Nick Blood) were forced to split away from their friends and teammates in an emotional farewell scene.
Now, Spoiler TV seems to have come across the first official logo for the show as well as news on a couple of new casting additions.
According to the report, both Oded Fehr (The Mummy) and Fernanda Andrade (The Devil Inside) have signed on to star in mysterious roles. No other details are provided, but there’s a pretty good chance at least one of them will be playing a villain, since we already have Morse, Hunter and Delroy Lindo’s Dominic Fortune on the side of the angels.

This tired chiller bases its scares around a child-like doll but its mundane surroundings more recall Harry Hill than Chucky
With the The Witch and 10 Cloverfield Lane currently marking the ascent of measured suspense within genre cinema, the crash-bang-wallop merchants have launched a counteroffensive. This intrinsically mediocre non-chiller transplants the hackneyed methods of 2014’s Annabelle to the English countryside, dispatching an uptight Lauren Cohan to the residence of the haughtily eccentric Heelshires to nanny their “son” Brahms – a child-sized porcelain doll. A vessel for everyone’s grief, Brahms is intended as creepy, yet in these cheap-looking surrounds he rather resembles a stray Harry Hill prop; an endless string of restless Pov shots can’t transform a tchotchke into a credible threat. Elsewhere, gimmickmonger William Brent Bell (The Devil Inside) has only careworn gotchas to offer, and he exhausts those long before the indifferently staged stalk-and-slash finale. These movies need new toys to play with. »

While the January output of horror movies has been less than stellar in recent years, The Boy pleasantly surprised quite a few people that were expecting a “by the numbers” horror movie. The Weinstein Company and Dimension Films announced today that they have moved up their upcoming horror film, "Amityville Horror: The Awakening," from April 1st, 2016 to January 6th, 2017. The film is directed by Franck Khalfoun and stars Bella Thorne, Jennifer Jason Leigh, and Cameron Monaghan.
Inside sources say The Weinstein Company executives and producer Jason Blum have made the decision after horror films have a good track record opening in the beginning of the year. Notable horror films that have had successful openings in January include "One Missed Call", "The Unborn", "Daybreakers", "The Devil Inside", "Texas Chainsaw Massacre 3D", "Paranormal Activity: The Marked Ones", "Woman In Black 2: Angel Of Death", and this year's "The Forest."
