The series is based on Stephen King's novel "Under the Dome". In his afterword, King says he first started the novel with 75 pages in 1976, then set it aside until 2007-2009.
Dale Barbara's (Barbie) birthday is July 17, 1979. The same as Mike Vogel, the actor who portrays him.
The show was cancelled 18 August 2015. The third season was the last one.
Chester's Mill is in the state of Maine.
Producers consider the dome itself to be the main antagonist of the series.
In the novel, a news helicopter crashes into the dome. That helicopter has the CBS logo on it (current home to the series).
Joe is "addicted to the graphic novels of Brian K. Vaughn" in the novel. Brian K. Vaughn became the creator and writer of the TV series.
This is guest star Marg Helgenberger's second Stephen King adaptation. The first one was The Tommyknockers (1993).
The character "Julia Shumway" - the red-headed reporter, shares her last name with an extra terrestrial sitcom character named Gordon Shumway, or more commonly referred to as "ALF." This could be an Easter Egg by Stephen King or Steven Spielberg to reference Under The Dome's alien themes.
Season 3 will begin filming and production in late Febuary early March 2015.
Dean Norris previously starred with Jeff Fahey in another Stephen King adaptation called The Lawnmower Man.
Julia originally comes from Chicago.

The trivia items below may give away important plot points.

In the original novel, Angie is killed by Junior, close to the very beginning of the book. Angie is only alive for about 2 pages.
The characters Joe and Angie are in the original book. However, they are not related.
Before it was renewed for a second season, Britt Robertson was only signed on for 10 of the 13 episodes in the first season. But, she was kept on the show for 5 more episodes and guest starred another.
In the episode "Awakening," Big Jim, played by Dean Norris, looks at himself in a mirror then lays his hand on a bible lying on the top shelf of his locker. Next to the bible is a black pork pie hat simular to the one Walter White wears in AMC's Breaking Bad, of which Dean Norris also had a leading role.
