I am coming at this from someone that would describe the books series as my favorite trilogy.
The good. Arthur is in line with book Arthur. Uther also seems perfect.
Derfel is okay. Will have to see how he progresses as season goes on. Only thing is feel like not bulky enough for some of the later stuff in book.
The bad: Nimue seeming lost and indecisive. Book version is confident and decisive.
Morgan is regulated to a back seat and has no personality.
Merlin is young and heroic and trying to stop Saxon by putting Arthur on throne. So different from book version, where he is an eccentric old man that has a completely different mission and Arthur just jumps in now and than.
Lastly magic seems real. Books always leave this as a maybe, but we get visions from a druids instead of questioning if they are making it all up.
