Storyline

The story of a garage band rock star named Ace who receives a guitar as a gift that once belonged to the god father of heavy metal, Eddie Lee Stryker. Ace soon realizes that this guitar is possessed by the spirit of Eddie and that the rock god was murdered by Mrs. Delicious (the beautiful and deadly Detroit crime boss). With the help of her crew of sexy hit women, Mrs. Delicious is terrorizing the city. The violent vixens start on a killing spree murdering anyone who has borrowed money from their boss and has not paid her back. When the blood trail leads them to Ace's dad's guitar shop, Ace is forced to take action to save his friends and family and avenge the death of his rock-n-roll idol. Written by Hartman, Mike C.

Shot-on-video nonsense

HEAVY MENTAL is a dreadful little shot-on-video horror film about a guitar-playing kid who comes into possession of a haunted guitar which is possessed by the spirit of a rock god. Yeah, I'm not making this up. The guitar has murder in mind, transforming the kid from a mild-mannered youth into a vengeful demon (in other words he dons a skull mask), and bloodshed ensues.

It's difficult to express in words just how poor this Troma release is. It's full of absurd acting, with grating voices that make you cringe at every stage, and plenty of cheapo gore effects which are quite laughable. Heavy metal fans might enjoy the music and paraphernalia that fills this movie, but as I'm not one, I can't comment.
