Kenny Chesney To Donate Movie Ticket Sales To Conservation Charity

Country singer Kenny Chesney aims to raise $50,000 for a conservation charity by donating a portion of profits from ticket sales from his new 3D concert movie.

Kenny Chesney: Summer In 3D hits theaters in the Us tonight, April 21, and $1 from the first 50,000 will go to the National Parks Conservation Association. The money will be used to help fund restoration projects at a number of parks, including the Grand Canyon and Yellowstone.

“Any time you can give back or help protect our nation’s parks, that’s a good thing,” he told Us Magazine. “Growing up near the Smokey Mountains — or spending as much time in the U.S. Virgin Islands as I do — you realize what a resource it is for all of us. No matter who you are, what you do, that beauty is all of ours to enjoy — to go camping, hiking, to sail in — and that undeveloped land is a gift.

Matthew McCaunaughey, Morgan Freeman show up for Kenny Chesney in 3D premiere

Kenny Chesney in 3D hits theaters in April, but the new movie had it’s premiere last night where stars Tim McGraw, Faith Hill, Matthew McCaunaughey, Morgan Freeman, Jewel, Reba McEntire and Kenny Chesney all showed up to celebrate the release. The film follows Kenny Chesney, the biggest ticket-seller of this century in any musical genre, on his latest concert tour, the Sun City Carnival. This spring, Sony Pictures Releasing’s special programming division, The Hot Ticket, will take audiences for another ride. For a limited engagement beginning in April 2010 in movie theaters nationwide, Kenny Chesney: Summer in 3D, will give fans the chance to live the fun, the friends, the songs and the moments that make Kenny Chesney the must-see concert experience to kickoff the summer season.
