DEAD CENTER: One week after the events of Left 4 Dead begin (October 7, 2009), the four survivors "Coach", Ellis, Nick, and Rochelle meet on the roof of The Vannah hotel, but just barely miss the helicopter rescue. Stuck in Savannah, Georgia, they scavenge for some weapons and make their way to Whitaker's Gun Shop. Whitaker lets them take whatever guns they want from his store if they break into a nearby store and bring him a 6-pack of cola. In exchange, he clears a roadblock for them with a rocket launcher from his roof. The survivors make their way to the nearby Liberty Mall, where they fill up the gas tank of Jimmy Gibbs Jr.'s stock car on display, and drive out of the mall's front doors. THE PASSING: At night, the survivors arrive at a raised bridge in the port town of Rayford, Georgia. The survivors who are already there, Louis, Francis, and Zoey, tell them that they'll have to get to the other side of the bridge by going under the river, through a half-finished historic tour. Better than the first game
14 October 2013 | by (Valhalla) – See all my reviews

For a game which the levels consist of "run through environment, shoot up zombies, get to safe house with teammates" the sequel has some areas to improve on. You could give it more of a story or get more awesome weapons or you could make the obstacles more interesting by getting more Special infected. This game seems to do all of those things.

So the plot is that Nick, Rochelle, Ellis and Coach are all survivors who banded together during the infection. They miss their escape opportunity and decide to get to a safe haven themselves. They must fight their way to a mall and drive to a closer escape route. After doing that they must fight their way to a carnival and call a helicopter. The pilot however turns into a zombie and they must find another escape route yet again. So they fight their way through a swamp and into a boat and then fight their way for fuel and back in the heavy rain and finally we have them dropped off running to the final escape helicopter.

So there is not that much of a plot. I think what could have improved this game dramatically is cut-scenes to establish the characters a bit more. We have them communication before the usual zombie shoot-up but I barely know these characters.

The game-play isn't that different from the first game... except you have katana's, chainsaws, grenade launchers, machetes and other awesome weapons to use against the zombies. So in terms of game-play it is more fun than the first game when you pick a new weapon up because it always makes the game even cooler.

So that really is all I can say for a game that basically has a similar level structure to Doom. I mean, if you liked the first game because of the game-play then this one would have you really enjoying it. It is worth playing if ever you have nothing to play and want something really fun but that's it.
