Welcome back to Dead Time. Do you believe in ghosts? Even if you’re a skeptic, you’ve probably tuned into at least one of the many TV shows or web series about ghost hunting. I’ve been watching paranormal reality television shows since Ghost Hunters first aired on Syfy in 2004, so this month I wanted to talk to one of the Og ghost hunters, paranormal investigator and researcher Adam Berry.
The original Ghost Hunters featured paranormal investigators Jason Hawes and Grant Wilson, who formed The Atlantic Paranormal Society (Taps) and assembled a team which included Steve Gonsalves and Dave Tango. Each episode followed the Taps team as they explored allegedly haunted locations, and the show became extremely successful. Ghost Hunters eventually spawned several spinoff television series, including Ghost Hunters Academy (2009), a paranormal competition reality show. When paranormal investigator Adam Berry won Ghost Hunters Academy, his prize was supposed to...

It’s true; no matter what certain networks may claim about their “winter finales,” winter doesn’t actually start until December 21, and isn’t over until March 20. Syfy, at least, understands this, and has announced their appropriately-titled winter schedule accordingly.
Happily this means that, starting on Monday, January 14, 2013, we will have some great television to get us through the cold months, including the return of Being Human and Lost Girl, and the premiere of Continuum, and later in the week, the return of Ghost Hunters and Face Off.
Here’s the schedule of premieres, along with series synopses:
Syfy’S 2013 Winter Programming Highlighted By Series Premieres Of Ghost Mine, Robot Combat League, Stranded And Continuum Season Returns Of Hits Being Human, Face Off, Total Blackout, Ghost Hunters, Lost Girl, Haunted Collector And Final Season Of Merlin

Syfy may have originally found success with scripted series, but it’s hard to resist the temptation of reality television, especially with the low production costs and the success of Ghost Hunters. Ghost Hunters' Adam Berry
In the world of ghost hunting on the popular SyFy reality series Ghost Hunters, regular occurrences are things that go bump in the night, spirited images that are captured on the investigators’ high-tech equipment and… the occasional Broadway tune? If you’re on a ghost hunting expedition with Adam Berry you will more than likely get a little music along with a dose of the paranormal.
Berry has been a part of Ghost Hunters since he won the competition in the Ghost Hunters Academy spin-off, but on tonight’s episode, he finds out he’s no longer ‘in training’ and is a full-fledged investigator. Between that and his marriage in August to longtime partner, Ben Griessmeyer (who changed his name to Ben Berry after the ceremony), Berry is having a pretty good year so it seemed like a good time to jump on the phone and catch up.

The new season of Ghost Hunters is upon us, premiering on January 11 on the SyFy network, and we are happy to share a preview of the first episode with you. First though, let’s look back at the origin of this haunting powerhouse of a show…
In 2004, the the now SyFy (then “Sci-Fi”) network premiered Ghost Hunters, a paranormal investigation program unlike anything else on television at the time. Following the spooky exploits of Grant Wilson and Jason Hawes, Roto-Rooter plumbers by day and The Atlantic Paranormal Society (Taps) members by night, Ghost Hunters took audiences into the dark rooms, foreboding basements, and whispering attics we are all curious about, but reluctant to explore. Audiences have latched on to the revolving cast (mostly settled now) of characters who have joined Hawes and Wilson, getting to know the “hunters” through candid conversation and hyjinx over the years.
Several cast members in particular have struck a chord,...

Adam Berry has had quite a year. It was a little over a year ago that he was notified that he’d been accepted as a participant on Ghost Hunters Academy – a “competition” version of the hit SyFy reality show Ghost Hunters, about paranormal investigators.
Filming began in February, and by May he’d won the competition – a fact that the rest of the world wouldn’t learn until July, when the finale aired. Shortly thereafter, he joined the investigators on the flagship show full-time. He appeared in a handful of episodes last fall, but his first full season as an “investigator-in-training” begins this month.
Why does AfterElton.com care? The boyishly handsome 26-year-old, a professional singer and actor based in Provincetown, is gay and out.
He’s also a heck of a nice guy as we discovered when we checked in on him by phone about the...

It looks like SyFy Channel's popular TV series Ghost Hunters will return for a seventh season! I don't know about you but I really enjoy watching this show! If you haven't watched it yet, it might seem silly at first, but things get interesting. You should check it out if you're not already a fan.
Jason Hawes and Grant Wilson will resume their roles as the leaders of Taps (the Atlantic Paranormal Society), which investigates reports of paranormal activity, from some pretty insane creepy places. Next year we will get 25 new episodes.
Since the show was released in 2004, Ghost Hunters has launched two spinoff series, Ghost Hunters Academy, and Ghost Hunters International, it's also inspired countless imitators on other networks like Ghost Adventures on the Travel Channel which is stupidly entertaining. Ghost Hunters has become Syfy's longest-running original series.

"Ghost Hunters" and the "Taps" (The Atlantic Paranormal Society) team has been a guilty pleasure of ours for many years. Although huge fans of the first few seasons the later shows in our opinion have been a bit watered down and the steam for new material seems to be lacking (not huge "K2" Emf meter fans either)...
Although there has been some rough patches we learned today via THR that the SyFy flagship series and their most popular franchise, "Ghost Hunters" will resume next year with 25 new episodes.
Jason Hawes and Grant Wilson will resume their duties as lead ghost hunting investigators on the show and hope to breath some life into this new seventh season. A benchmark that puts the show "Ghost Hunters" as the longest running series on the network.

The Ghost Hunters name is starting to rival CSI and Law & Order in the spinoff department. What else do all three of these franchises share? There's just as much hard paranormal evidence in the last two as appears in the first.
Please don't misunderstand me -- since I've gone off on this topic before. I'm not saying ghosts don't exist. I'm not saying there's no afterlife. I don't begrudge any scientific investigation into parapsychology or realms described as paranormal. I'd just like any of the endless march of "ghost-based" shows to dig up one scintilla of proof that they found something and, therefore, deserve to be on TV every week.
The latest entry is Syfy's Ghost Hunter's Academy -- sort of Most Haunted meets The Rookies from the 70s. Each week, ghost hunting "professors" (the show's conceit, not mine) Steve Gonsalves and Dave Tango welcome first-time paranormal investigators onto The Atlantic Paranormal Society (Taps) team.
