Storyline

Years ago Stanley DeBrock, a mentally challenged man, was implicated in the disappearance of Naomi Bridges. Now his twin brother Stone must restore honor to the DeBrock name. Returning home to the small East Texas town of Atwood, Stone is immediately thrown into the mix of a tragic past and an uncertain future. With hopes of rekindling a relationship with his life-long love Diane, Stone encounters his biggest challenge...finding the strength to forgive Stanley. Meanwhile, Stone's uncle Earl Wayne is in debt with two local drug lords...a debt which he cannot pay. Desperate, Earl Wayne and his brother Peebo force Stone into a scheme against Stone's father in order to save themselves. With drama, suspense, and a shocking conclusion, the darkest secrets of the DeBrock family are revealed. Written by Anonymous

Trivia

Because of prior scheduling conflicts, Marc Macaulay and Pruitt Taylor Vince could not work on the same day, so the filmmakers decided to shoot their performances of the only scene their characters had together separately on different days. First, Pruitt filmed his performance using a stand in to act opposite of, and two days later Marc filmed his performance, again using a stand in. Through editing, the two performances were pieced together seamlessly. This resulted in a powerful scene between the two actors. See more »

Badass!
25 June 2013 | by (New York, NY) – See all my reviews

With dynamic acting, brilliant cinematography, and southern charm Broken Blood keeps you on the edge of your seat. The writing is reminiscent of Elmore Leonard with characters leaping off the screen. Playing a dual role of twins, co-writer/director Derek Wayne Johnson turned two excellent, realistic performances, while also directing a cast and getting a different side out of prolific character actors known more for other types of roles. The characters were fun to watch, and make you want to know more about them. Ali Costello did an excellent job as the southern belle, girl-next-door love interest and had great on-screen chemistry with Johnson. I've already watched it twice!
