First Teaser Trailer for Xavier Gens' Chilly New Sci-Fi Film 'Cold Skin'

12 July 2017 5:13 PM, PDT | firstshowing.net | See recent FirstShowing.net news »

Now what do we have here? There's a very brief teaser trailer going around for a film called Cold Skin, the latest feature from French filmmaker Xavier Gens (of Frontier(s) and The Divide). The teaser trailer doesn't show much, but there are a bunch of photos from the set and a few posters that give us a good look at the weird "humanoid killer amphibians". Set on a desolate island in the Antarctic Circle, the film tells of a man living there who discovers that at night the island is overrun by these creatures. The cast includes David Oakes, Ray Stevenson, and Aura Garrido as Aneris, who seems to be one of these creatures that he falls in love with (see photo above). I'm certainly very curious about this, and I hope we get to see more footage sooner than later. For now, this is all we have but it's worth a look. »

Acting can be a brutal business, as Milo Ventimiglia well knows.

So brutal, in fact, the beloved This Is Us star has been thisclose to walking away from Hollywood three separate times.

“I was just fed up,” the 39-year-old star tells People and Entertainment Weekly Editorial Director Jess Cagle for the latest episode of The Jess Cagle Interview, while recalling the second time he almost left acting following a failed attempted at a Gilmore Girls spin-off and a couple of pilots that went nowhere. “I couldn’t catch a break to lock on to some work and be creative.”

Genre Kings Weigh Their Market Options

21 May 2017 7:00 PM, PDT | Variety - Film News | See recent Variety - Film News news »

Catalan genre films come with high expectations this year, with movies from two heavyweight auteurs, Jaume Balagueró’s “Muse” and Rodrigo Cortés’ “Down a Dark Hall,” looking set to hit major festivals.

But while names such as J.A. Bayona, Balagueró and Paco Plaza are regarded with fanboy reverence, Catalonia’s genre film movement, which boasts “[Rec]” and “The Orphanage” among landmarks, is undergoing market mutation.

“Spanish thrillers keep selling, although the best sales are titles with high production values and political or social elements,” says Film Factory Ent. Vicente Canales, citing “Marshland.” For horror, the key is “to go theatrical, fleeing from the B-movies, which is a saturated sector.”

10 March 2017 8:29 AM, PST | MovieWeb | See recent MovieWeb news »

Screen Media Films has released the first trailer for The Void, which is slated to hit theaters in limited released and arrive on VOD platforms April 7. This terrifying thriller has been winning rave reviews from hitting the festival circuit, after making its world premiere at Fantastic Fest in Austin, Texas back in September. If this new footage is any indication, which features some of the critical praise from the festivals, fans of 80s horror films will be in for one hell of a ride.

In the middle of a routine patrol, officer Daniel Carter (Aaron Carter) happens upon a blood-soaked figure limping down a deserted stretch of road. He rushes the young man to a nearby rural hospital staffed by a skeleton crew, only to discover that patients and personnel are transforming into something inhuman.
