I hope Netflix renews Luna Park for season 2!
rainsinger-8957126 October 2022
I was surprised by how much I like this show, I've thought of it many times since watching it several months ago. I integrates many elements in a sort of historic fantasy setting. There is love, joy, beautiful colorful sets, historic elements, friendship, family, secrets, magic. I really like the way it unfolds. Lots of layers, fun to watch, some under shadows but not overwhelmingly dark.

I recommend it and can't wait for season 2. I really hope Netflix renews the series for at least one more season, 2 more seasons would be great.

Meanwhile I'll have to settle for watching the series again, which will be fun too.

Entertaining, but lacks humour
Victorialau27 April 2022
I see many people comment that they watched the show in dubbed English. On Netflix, you can hear the original voices and just add subtitles. Luna park is entertaining, but it lacks humour. But the acting is convincing and the plot as well. The worst that Netflix can do is to not officially renew the show. There is to much uncertainty after watching season 1 and I do not like to decide myself how it ends. So I will be wating for season 2.

It's charming and enjoyable.

The acting is good which is important. Set in an interesting era within Italy. Some scenes are drawn out but you find yourself wanting to find out how everything plays out. I think 1 more season with a few more episodes and then I would personally stop watching because there isn't much room for growth. The soundtrack doesn't match the show at all BUT that makes it actually even more enjoyable. Get your Shazaam ready and.

A very enjoyable and well-played series
adamjurak15 October 2021
The story, set in the 1960s, impresses with its retro look. The costumes, items and the whole scenery reflect the epoch well. The actors played their roles very well. I'm waiting for the 2nd season.

Kept My Interest
alli-6753315 July 2022
I watched all six episodes in one sitting. The story moved along at a pace that sparked my interest. I was so disappointed that it stopped where it did in episode ode six. I am so looking forward to the next episodes. I will be disappointed if Netflix does not film them and of course will try to find the series somewhere else.

Bad music makes this show even worse
symmachos29 March 2022
I really wanted to like this show, but it was impossible. I recently watched another lightweight Italian series on Netflix that I did enjoy -- "Guida Astrologica per Cuori Infranti" -- and I was hoping that this one would be similar. Since my primary motive was to practice understanding standard Italian (as opposed to the Neapolitan dialect in Gomorrah) I naturally watched the version in Italian with subtitles.

But this series is garbage. The plot is a worn-out cliche, the acting is dreadful, the characters are unbelievably dense, and the soundtrack made me want to run screaming from my TV. Somehow someone thought it would be a good idea to make a show set in the 1960s and yet avoid using ANY music from that famously musical decade.

Still worse, when a familiar tune (from a much later decade) pops up, it isn't just background music -- it dominates the mix so heavily that the dialogue is drowned out.

I mean really -- they picked "Lovefool," a 1992 dance hit from a Swedish pop group, to convey girlish excitement in Italy in the 1960s??

Moreover, the writers don't seem to know anything about anything in their story. There's an early scene that is evidently supposed to be a Tarot card reading -- yet it proceeds like no Tarot reading I've ever heard of, with the reader (not the querent) selecting cards at random from a spread and then just laying them down side by side. We never see a single card face-up. At one point the reader refers to "The Old Woman," which isn't even a Tarot card.

It looks like nobody took the trouble to learn what they needed to know. As a result the series is so idiotic that I can guarantee you this: Any reviewer who gives it a 10 is a paid shill. Of the 11 reviews visible at this moment, only a few sound like they were written by someone who actually watched the show. I gave up after the first episode.

Please let there be a season 2!
chetcher-111 October 2021
I normally can't get into dubbed shows, but this one is so captivating that you forget it's dubbed. It's a perfect mix of characters, imagery, and soundtrack (I wonder if the Italian version has different songs than the American one?) resulting in a wonderful series within which to get totally immersed and lost. I REALLY hope there is a season 2, even if it is just a few episodes, because the cliffhanger at the end of season one can't be left that way! I need to know what happens next!

A charming nostalgic drama series.
folk_egm4 October 2021
A retro 60's series with an old-fashioned plot. But instead there is a production that is very meticulous. Also in the old-fashioned story It's like having fun gradually. More and more in the story Both from each character that is unique. And a retro amusement park background in the past where audiences a bit older had been through these rides. It must have felt like going back in time to see a fragment of childhood memories again.

Great all around. But, the music is a major failure.
joe-5202725 February 2022
I was trying to find a place to comment on this and IMDB seemed the right place. The atmospheric tracks they chose for this series are just fine. However, whoever they hired and made the pop music choices for the soundtrack should've been fired. It's incredibly jarring to be experiencing a foreign piece set in a specific time period (1960s) to be shocked into hearing overbearing music from the 2010s. The 21st century pop is wildly out of place and a stain on the filmmaking - which I must compliment as having very visually pleasing color palette, nice camera work, excellent acting, and perfect set design. But someone has to grab this series back and re-edit the soundtrack choices. Even if 1960s American pop took its place that would at least be acceptable, but I can think of plenty of other Italian hits from the same era that would've worked, too.

Interesting storyline and impactful

Warning: Spoilers
Lovely Italian series about the unintended consequences of kidnapping during the early era of war. The acting is great and I watched both in original language for a few episodes and then dubbed. The dubbing is very good match to the characters. The story has a lot of intriguing arcs with the butterfly, the tarot reading of wealthy and that storyline or the movie star killing his date and how that puzzle tries to unfold or the dorky brother who gets to MC a show and learns to smoke from the movie star. The parents and their interactions with "communists" is quite entertaining too. Era outfits are great - as are the set designs. Who doesn't love an amusement park!

A twist on Shakespearean twins
mvt-978906 October 2021
I enjoyed this series. It's a twist on Shakespeare's twins separated at birth. In Comedy of Errors, there are two sets of identical twins who are separated at birth but later are reunited after a series of comic escapades. In Twelfth Night, two twins (one female, one male) are separated in a shipwreck but later reunited, again after a series of events (serious, in this case).

In this story, though, there are two twins who were separated when they were one and a half through an apparent kidnapping. And, yes, they are reunited as adults. But, the twist is that both twins, upon reconnecting, explore the motives of the parents that led to the separation. The story has a lot of twists and turns, which makes it interesting to watch (though, like many series that are out these days, there are too many sub-plots that really have nothing to do with the main story, I wish writers would be more concise and stick to one storyline with a few sidetracks. But, then again, there would be fewer episodes).

The one problem I had with the series was the ending which left me asking "What happened?", in addition to most of the sub-plots. Obviously, they are banking on having a second series. But, if Netflix decides not to fund a second series, this one just ends in the middle of a plot. Again, I wish writers would create a temporary closure to the main story (viewers want complete, if not, happy endings). Then, they can pick up another strand in a future series.

But, overall, if you enjoy watching Italian films, especially from their heyday in the 1950s and 1960s, you will enjoy Luna Park.

Great series!
Blhhas225 October 2021
I didn't think I would like this show when it first started. It must have just been my mood because within a few minutes I was thoroughly enjoying this historical drama. This is not my typical genre by any stretch, but the plot is great enough that the Era it was set in, as well as the dubbed English were no problem.

ukelilue28 October 2021
Very very very pleasant poetic and graceful série!!!! Loved everything about it!! The acting is so natural , the story so light, the end so scary ..... PLEASE my family friends and I.. we all wish for another season. I loved all the actors, even Sandro the killer , he is very attaching and hope we will get to know more about him and about Celeste too. Ça accroche du début à la fin , pas de blalbla inutile. Décor, image, montage, scénario, musique, tout est vraiment beau doux et subtil.
