Storyline

A suspected jewel robber, his ex-girl-friend and a cop who became more than friends with her are all killed by a sniper, who turns out to be a sixteen-year-old boy. It is assumed that he is carrying out the murders to impress gang leader Kali Manchetta and become one of his gang but he has a more personal reason. Pontus risks his life in pursuit of the murderer for which he is initially rebuked by Wallander for not being a team player and endangering his colleagues though Wallander comes to see the young man's bravery. Pontus also holds out against his estranged father who has come to persuade him to join the family law firm, using Pontus's illegitimate son as the lure. Pontus resists but for the first time begins to bond with the child. Written by don @ minifie-1

The center of this episode is a sniper, as the title indicates. It turns out this is a boy, some fifteen or so years old. The story begins with a bad guy, sitting in a car, ready to do something nefarious. He is shot in the head after readying his weapon with a silencer. So when the investigation starts, the police aren't all that motivated. That is until they become the possible targets of this guy. We also have a focus on the young cadet, Pontus. He is kind of like Stefan in the first season, a bit of a loose cannon, but still a dedicated policeman. Kurt has to decide whether he has the discipline to be trusted by his fellow officers. We are also let in on a secret. Pontus's father has appeared with a baby, Pontus's son, whom he has abandoned. There is also a focus on the motivations of the sniper. What is his game. We get into the dark underbelly of the gun trade. This is a satisfying offering from a very good series.
