Storyline

Wild Horses and Renegades examines the plight of America's wild horses and the rapidly deteriorating condition of our wild Public Lands. The film follows the majestic Band Stallion, Traveler and his family who dwell in Disappointment Valley, Colorado. When the Bureau of Land Management conducts a massive wild horse roundup, Traveler and his family are torn apart. They are sent to Wild Horse prison in a brutal removal of two-thirds of their wild horse herd. The film tracks wild horse advocates as they work to return Traveler to his homeland. They have to do this before he is shipped to BLM Long Term Holding where he may face Euthanasia or worse, being shipped to Mexico for brutal slaughter. Written by James Kleinert

Horse lovers need to see this movie!
20 April 2013 | by See all my reviews

This film is very moving and informative. A must see for every American citizen! The film exposes dangerous round ups that the government conducts with protected American horses in the wild. First penning, separating and eventually selling to slaughter or private ownership. The film has beautiful photography and many huge celebrities speaking out against the cruelty and expenses wasted on this ongoing routine wipe out of the American horses. It also gives you good options to end this before all the horses are extinct in the wild. I recommend anyone that loves horses to see what their tax dollars are being used for. I had no idea that these round ups are going on. Great interviews with Viggo Mortensen, Sheryl Crow, Willie Nelson, Robert Blake, Daryl Hannah, Madelaine Pickens and Ginger Kathryns.
