Storyline

Astro-physicist Christian King receives images from outer space showing fragments of an explosion which will occur in eighteen hours and result in several deaths. He approaches police inspector Rebecca Flint, who is initially unconvinced until she sees that a phone number among the images is genuine. With her team of Gada and Holt, and helped by King, she pin-points the catastrophe as happening on a railway bridge, where a train has broken down and towards which a lorry containing explosive materials is heading. Ultimately, as Rebecca seeks solace with Gada, King sees more images projected onto his screens of likely future events. Written by don @ minifie-1

Needs to improve
25 November 2009 | by (United Kingdom) – See all my reviews

This opening episode had some good moments, it also had some fairly bad ones. The premise of being able to change events by seeing the future is hardly new so any new series using the idea really needs to bring something new to the idea. Sadly so far this seems standard fare: eccentric scientist receives images of a possible future and tells the police who are initially sceptical but as they follow the clues given it appears that the prophecy is coming true and the only mystery is whether our heroes will manage to prevent it.

Of course the clues from the future are fairly vague but as they appear to be photographs this makes little sense; why send a picture of part of a sign when one could just as easily send an image of the full sign? Perhaps this will be explained later, I certainly hope it is. On the plus side I did like the way this week's premonition worked out, I certainly didn't expect that ending.

Tasmin Outhwaite does well enough as police officer DI Rebecca Flint but I didn't believe Emun Elliott's portrayal of the slightly creepy scientist Dr. King, he seemed too young and the character was far too smug.
