Lisa becomes livid with Miss Hoover, and in a series of homages to classic Hitchcock sets out for deadly revenge. Next, Krusty's latest fast-food sandwich transforms news anchor Kent Brockman into an enraged zombie and twenty-eight days later, cannibal zombies have overrun Springfield. In the final frightening fable, Homer accidentally falls through a trapdoor in Moe's tavern and impales himself on the pipes of Moe's microbrewery. Moe serves the barflies a glass of delicious beer flavored with Homer's blood and Homer, now half-man, half-brewing apparatus, returns for vengeance. Written by Fox Publicity

Marge asks, "what kind of civilized people eat the body and blood of their savior?" Cut to Rev. Lovejoy, who becomes uncomfortable as the punchline of this jab, apparently as one who believes this. Reverend Lovejoy is a Protestant, not a Catholic, and thus would not believe that the bread and wine of Christian communion are anything more than reminders of the ultimate atoning sacrifice of Christ (See 1 Corinthians 11:23-26). Catholics and E. Orthodox traditions tend to be the proponents of transubstantiation, believing the bread and wine actually become Christ's flesh and blood. This is a 12th century idea not found in scripture, thus would not be believed by Rev. Lovejoy. See more »

20 Years of fun
19 October 2009 | by (United States) – See all my reviews

Here is the breakdown of last nights episode: Segment 1: Good; but could have had more fun with the Hitchcock references - although not many people would probably have understood them. Segment 2: Great! The best of the night: a zombie parody with a vindication for vegetarians. The best line was delivered by Bart when he asked "what kind of people eat the body and drink the blood of their savior?" Segment 3: OK: I couldn't really understand what they were going for, was is supposed to be a spoof on Sweeney Todd? It was entertaining, but the weakest of segment of the night:( Ultimately, after twenty years, the fact that this show can still execute quality work is some sort of miracle and we should all acknowledge The Simpsons as an American institution!
