Panties and neck braces
29 December 2009 | by (New York) – See all my reviews

Larry is buying a pair of pants. As he is being fitted, the fire alarm goes off. Still wearing the trousers, he wants to go for his own pants left inside, but he is told everyone must evacuate. Larry is happily surprised by the name of a police officer outside the store, his name is Krupke, the same name of a character in the musical "West Side Story". Larry offers a rendition of the song to the cop, who is not impressed. Larry even offers an explanation about the phrase "Krupe you", but this man couldn't care less. As the wait goes on, Larry decides to leave wearing the new pants, security tags and all.

As Jeff and Susie are driving, she starts sneezing. As she reaches for a tissue from Jeff's glove compartment, she is startled to find a pair of red panties. She wants an explanation, but Jeff, unfortunately, doesn't have one. That is, he will have one, as he asks Larry to cover up for him and tell Susie the item was his because he enjoys wearing them! Dennis and Virginia, friends of the Greenes are visiting. Virginia wants to read for the part of George's wife in the upcoming reunion show.

As Larry walks away from the Greenes, he sees three kids selling lemonade for a dollar. He decides to have some. His cup is so tiny, he feels cheated. He asks for his money back, upsetting the children. The mother of one of the boy sees him going into Jeff and Susie's and follows him there. She is upset and promises Larry some action if he ever goes near her child.

When the audition comes, Cheryl meets Virginia. She feels the part is hers because Larry promised it from the beginning. After all, she was involved from the start! Cheryls audition is OK, but Jerry Seinfeld, is clearly not impressed. Virginia, on the other hand, is much better; she gets the part. Larry must face Cheryl and tell her she was not selected. Cheryl tells her former husband about Dennis asking her to be part of a threesome. She was surprised and confused, at the same time.

Jeff tells Larry about a change of plans. Virginia has turned down the offer of the role because she has to wear a neck brace. The part is now Cheryl's. Larry thinks the only way Virginia would have hurt her neck was while performing the threesome because when he inspected the car outside her home, the vehicle has no damage.

Larry goes back to the store to get his own pants, but he is told nothing was found. The shop has signs indicating they are not responsible for any items left behind. Larry decides to walk out with the store pants, still with the original security tags on. As he is driving by the lemonade stand, he is singing the "officer Krupke" tune from "West Side Story" and he happens to do the famous "Krupke you" line. The children think it's something else. The mother comes over to the Greene's with police officer Krupke, who looks at Larry's pants with the security tags on, and asks him to take them off. To everyone's surprise and amazement Larry is wearing red panties!

Another inspired episode of this amazing series. This show was directed by David Steinberg, a great actor and comedian himself. The pacing of the action is incredible. Larry takes on how businesses ignore valid complaints, such as the case of the way the shop lost his pants, even though it wasn't his fault! Elizabeth Shue shows up as Virginia in a rare presentation. Cheryl Hinds is seen again. Susie Essman has some good moments. Jeff Garlin and Larry David do what they do best!
