Live from Albany, NY

Your hosts are Vince McMahon & Jerry Lawler

"Stone Cold" Steve Austin & Farooq Vs "Double J" Jessie James & Savio Vega

Jessie James gets hurt during the match by a chopblock from Austin. Bret Hart comes down to ringside and lobbies to take Jessie's place. The referee allows it. Therefore, it's now. Steve Austin and Farooq Vs Savio Vega & Bret Hart. The match ends in a DQ after Crush interferes. Ahmed Johnson runs down with a 2 x 4 for the save.

Thoughts: This was a below average tag team match that received a spark when Bret Hart got involved. I will say it advanced story lines nicely.

Hunter Hearst Helmsley Vs Flash Funk

Goldust shows up in the crowd before the match. During the match, Jerry Lawler tries to provoke Goldust. This allows Helmsley to waffle Flash Funk with the intercontinental title behind the ref's back for the win. Flash Funk attacks Hunter and hits the 450 splash on him.

Thoughts: The match started off fine before it got bogged down by Helmsley's methodical offense. Triple H wasn't fully refined as of yet. As much as I dislike him, he turned out to be a damn good wrestler.

It's time for a face to face interview with Bret Hart and Shawn Michaels! Shawn's gonna go first, but Shawn makes a mockery of Bret and says he's gonna let the "almighty" Bret Hart go first. Bret says he finds Shawn's attitude disrespectful. Bret calls Shawn a hypocrite. He says Jose Lothario apologized to Shawn for costing him the title, yet Shawn didn't apologize to Bret for costing him the title. Bret says after Shawn screwed Bret out of the WWF title at Wrestlemania 12, Shawn promised to carry the WWF with the same pride and class that Bret did. Bret says Shawn hasn't done any of that. He says Bret's son used to look up to Shawn, but that all changed when Shawn decided to pose for playgirl magazine. He says Shawn has degraded the WWF title. He says Shawn has no class. There will come a time when Bret faces Shawn in the ring and all the dancing in the world won't save him. He's gonna kick Shawn's ass. Shawn says he hopes he got the bug out of his butt. Shawn says he's seen Bret on the road, and Bret's no role model. Ouch. Sycho Sid comes out and says he's played the game with both Bret and Shawn, and both lost to him. Sid says he wants some real competition. The Undertaker's music hits and out he comes. Vader comes out and attacks The Undertaker from behind. Shawn low blows Bret and jumps over the top rope and nails Sid with a plancha.

Thoughts: I loved this segment. Whenever Bret and Shawn were together, you knew fireworks were gonna commence. Bret was excellent on the microphone. Shawn got one good jab in before Sid's interruption. This also added to the build for a couple of the matches for the 1997 Royal Rumble.

Goldust (W/Marlena) Vs Jerry "The King" Lawler

Lawler wins by countout. Helmsley tries to take Marlena to the back, but Marc Mero stops him. Helmsley ends up throwing Goldust into Marlena, hurting her in the process. Goldust gets beat up as Marlena lies on the floor in agony as Raw goes off the air.

Thoughts: The match was joined in progress after commercial, so we didn't get to see much of it.

This was a decent episode of Raw. The face to face interview between Bret and Shawn was intense. That was the highlight of the show.
