Your hosts are Vince McMahon, Jerry Lawler & Jim Ross
Bret Hart Vs Owen Hart (W/Clarence Mason)
While Bret is going for the sharpshooter, Stone Cold comes out and waffles Bret from behind with a chair. Austin and Owen set up a chair around Bret's ankle to destroy it, but The British Bulldog comes out and puts a stop to it. Austin nails Bulldog from behind with a chair. Owen and Austin quarrel briefly before Austin leaves the ring. This wasn't Owen and Bret's best match by any means, but it was still fairly entertaining. Austin was still a heel at this juncture, even with the growing fan support. The British Bulldog would turn somewhat into a tweener for a while.
The Executioner (W/Mankind & Paul Bearer) Vs Freddie Joe Floyd
The Executioner is Terry Gordy from the Fabulous Freebirds. The Executioner wins by submission. This was nothing more than a squash match.
We go to Jose Lothario's home. He's with Shawn Michaels. Lothario feels guilty because he feels he's responsible for Shawn losing the WWF title. Shawn says he lost his edge, but it's not Jose Lothario's fault. He says what's done is done, and he can be WWF Champion again. Jose Lothario can never be replaced. Jerry Lawler interjects himself by saying Lothario cost Shawn the title. Shawn slams Sycho Sid and says Lothario has been in the game for 30 years. He says Lothario can stick his nose whenever he damn well pleases. Shawn says if Sid won fair and square, he would have been man enough to shake Sid's hand. Sid took the easy way out by nailing Lothario with a camera. He says he wants Sid one on one at the Royal Rumble in his home town of San Antonio. He says it didn't bother him that fans were cheering Sid louder than him at Survivor Series. He wants the fan's behind him, but he's not gonna beg for support. Vince says Shawn is being defensive. Shawn says he's being honest. Shawn says he's gonna be the risk taker of old and slap people around. That's what got him to where he is today. He'll do whatever he wants, when he wants. He can be as dirty as anybody. He says he's gonna become WWF Champion again, and there is nothing anybody else can do about it.
Thoughts: This was a very passionate promo from Shawn. He's not always easy to like, but he's damn good at what he does.
Rocky Maivia Vs Salvatore Sincere
Maivia wins with a shouldebreaker. This was OK. Rocky was still green at this juncture. It was a good win for him at the time, though.
Marc Mero (W/Sable) Vs Billy Gunn
Mero wins by DQ after Hunter Hearst Helmsley interferes. Jake "The Snake" Roberts runs down and makes the save. I'd say this match was above average. Helmsley's commentary was a little distracting, but it wasn't bad overall.
This episode of Raw is OK. It features some reasonable wrestling, solid storytelling at times, and some excitement. I did feel like there was something missing.
