Trivia

The gag during the bachelor party when one of the cops mentions to Monk that there is a bathroom in his bathroom (a port-a-john inside the bathroom) is a spoof of a story on 'The Onion' about a Starbucks opening inside the restroom of an existing Starbucks (which itself satirizes a common fact that one can find Starbucks shops practically next door to each other in major cities). Goofs

Towards the end of the episode when Stephanie fires the pistol in the air the slide stays open but Leeland has the magazine in the tuxedo bag. The slide would only stay open if there were an empty magazine in the pistol. See more »

Quotes

Adrian Monk: [to the small bachelor party] Okay, does everybody have pizza?
First Cop: Uh, there's nothing on it.
[Indeed, the pizzas ordered are "extra plain," that is to say, they have no cheese and even don't have any sauce on them!]
Adrian Monk: I know! I ordered plain.
First Cop: Not even cheese?
Adrian Monk: I ordered extra plain. No fuss, no muss. And use your coasters. All right, the large coasters go under the small coasters. And there's trash bags in the kitchen. Everyone gets one, I put your names at the top.

Marriage in the air
14 November 2009 | by (United States) – See all my reviews

A return to form for the series. A charred corpse is found in a park. Stottlemeyer is about to get married, and suddenly his has become the target of an unseen prankster who ransacks his apartment and torches his car. Somehow, the burned body and the prankster are connected, but Monk and the captain are mystified as to how. A tiny piece of evidence finally turns things around, very much in the Sherlock Holmes tradition. A great episode, with plenty of interplay among the four principals. The real suspense is whether or not the captain will end up getting married with all the nonsense that is going on. Virginia Madsen and Carol Kane guest-star, the latter as a nutty florist who has a great scene with Shalhoub in a flower shop. By the way, we know who the culprit is early on, but the fun is in watching Monk and the captain close in on the bad guy.
