"Captive for 18 years: The Jaycee Lee Story" tells the story of Jaycee Lee Dugarde, who was kidnapped aged eleven and held captive until the age of 29, when she finally could be returned to her family.

The producers try to follow the happenings step by step. You get a good impression of what happened back then, how the investigators tried to solve the case and what the girl had to suffer over the eighteen years. Unfortunately, at a certain point they seem to have run out of material because some sequences are repeated and the audience increasingly gets confronted with "old" footage. Otherwise it is an interesting documentation of a case that shows to what cruelty people are capable. It is of course always difficult when a crime case is used to gain audiences but it is a thoughtful production.

All in all if you are interested in special crime cases or want an introduction into the case, this could be a thing for you. It is a solid documentation with only a few weaknesses.
