An epic story of a family caught up in history.
With some amazing original footage of a refugee camp and of a grandmother determined to reunite her family in the aftermath of a genocide-torn homeland without even being sure they are still alive after so long, this heavy-going eighteen year epic chronicles the misery and courage of normal people living through extraordinary times. Leaving politics and warfare aside, we have a window into the lives of millions of people displaced by conflict throughout the world at all periods in history and of the inexorable changes in culture as the generations pass. Seamlessly, director Stanley Harper is able to get his film crew into the lives of people who have nothing to come back to as they stoically play themselves on location and in real time through a period in their lives nobody would envy.
