First day of school
19 January 2012 | by (New York) – See all my reviews

It is back to school time. The kids are not exactly happy, but the parents are all looking forward to more intimate moments without the children around the house. Luke is unhappy because he did not write the journal he was asked to complete. Manny, proud of his heritage dons a Colombian poncho, something that makes Jay cringe because he knows how cruel kids can be and what Manny is going to suffer from his classmates.

Cam, an avowed shutterbug, has been taken pictures of Lily in different outfits, each representing a singing diva. She first appears in an afro wig since she is supposed to represent Diana Ross. Other idols she posed as included Olivia Newton-John, Madonna, but not Cher. Cam cannot comprehend how he missed her. Mitch waltzing around with Lily, accidentally throws her too high, resulting in the toddler hitting her head. Cam, ever so dramatic, wants the girl examined right away. The doctor inspecting Lily thinks she is fine. Being so nervous, Mitch locks Lily in the car, having left the keys in the baby bag. The two men become hysterical.

Claire wants time for herself. Phil has other things in mind, like spending more 'quality time' with his wife, now the children are out of the way. Same thing happens with Jay, but both men are not lucky in that department. Claire knows she is a faster runner than her husband, but he insists in coming along to jog with her. Claire must pretend he is overtaking her, when in reality she could outrun him.

Another good episode of this delightful sitcom. It was directed by Jason Winer based on the screenplay written by Brad Walsh and Paul Corrigan. Mr. Winer keeps the pace at a good level. The regular cast does wonders with the material.
