When her husband is taken hostage by his striking employees, a trophy wife (Deneuve) takes the reins of the family business and proves to be a remarkably effective leader. During the course of this film, you are bound to see a lot of hysterical things! Or let me put it this way, you'll get quite a lot of laughs out of this one! Potiche is hysterical, it is one of the funniest movies that has been released in the year of 2010, and it is a French film, yes I just said that, it is a French film. You see, a movie doesn't have to be American in order for it to be funny, in fact, there are quite a lot of movies being released that aren't funny, and most of them are American. Well anyway, this film is funny, and it is serious in a few places, but it is mostly a comedy, and a great one at that too! There are a few scenes in which you will probably split your sides, I'd name them, but it would probably blow the movie for you, and that would be dreadful, and I am trying to give a review here, not a synopsis, so I won't say.
What's really great about this movie is the humor. The humor in this movie isn't Three Stooges type of humor, it isn't humor that has a lot of people going around acting like clowns and hitting each other repeatedly. Catherine Deneuve stars as the main character, and her performance was good. You see, somebody doesn't have to speak English in order to act and do a good job at it. Fabrice Luchini stars as another main character. I always called him: "The French Steven Spielberg", because he really does look a lot like Steven Spielberg. There are also many other big French actors in this movie, and they all star together in a very good French movie! So in short, the very good acting and the very good value of humor really add to what makes this movie a movie that is worth watching, and I mean that it is worth watching, it's worth watching for the laughs, and there are a lot of laughs in this movie, almost through the entire film as a matter of fact!
So all in all, Potiche is without a doubt one of the funniest films ever released in the year of 2010, and it is one of the funniest movies that I have seen in quite some time! It is a French comedy gem, it is proof that a movie doesn't have to be American in order for it to be great, and it also proves that it doesn't have to have slapstick humor in order for it to be funny. When you see this movie, you will clearly see what I mean by all of this, it will tell you this, in the form of laughs! No kidding, you've got to watch this movie, it is very, very, very, funny, no, even better than that, it is not funny, it is hysterical! So hysterical, that you probably won't be able to stop laughing at what you are watching! Get ready for some very big laughs when you watch Potiche, because I mean that this movie has big laughs, and you will see what I mean when you watch this film! So watch this and enjoy it, because it is SUCH a fun and hysterical time!
