Up-and-coming new director

Warning: Spoilers
"Boxhead" is a noirish, creepy film that evokes the universal nightmare of being controlled by a malevolent force. "The Basement" plays on everyone's fears of taking that trip down those stairs. "Id" looks at the nature of abandonment within. "The Child" is an animated dream of the most frightening kind, exploring a parent-progeny relationship from hell. These are terrific short films confirming that the true source of horror is to be found inside our own heads.

Randall Kaplan is a smart young filmmaker whose cinematic vision of horror is fresh and original. Watch for Kaplan's name some day to be listed among the greats of the genre, alongside George Romero, Val Lewton, and Tod Browning.

A truly original new voice in horror
kramnalpak7 February 2010
This five film compilation from this young writer/director presents a dark and eerie view into the sometimes horrifying results of isolation and loneliness.

These films are not your typical "slasher" fare, and they certainly do not stoop to the tired techniques of things popping into the frame just to get you to jump out of your seat.

The writing, the direction, the lighting and even the soundtracks all demonstrate a vision and a mastery, that has obviously absorbed the work of the giants before him. And yet these films offer a fresh vision that will leave you stunned and disturbed, yet wanting more from this new visionary in film.
