Their argument is that a made-for-TV movie poisoned the jury pool but the appellate court denies them a re-trial. While watching this good episode, you begin to wonder why more wasn't done at the original trial. It certainly becomes evident that the accused was railroaded into a death penalty.
When the next round of Emmy nominations are announced, I hope that David Paymer will be considered for best supporting actor. He is just terrific as the sarcastic, caustic judge, who is very liberal but quite on the ball. He will give it to both the prosecution and defense if necessary. In this episode, he is right on the mark. At the end, he really lets loose on the prosecution as he has been forced to go against his original decision.
