Secret Identity: Captain America, Conan And More Casting We Want To See In 2010

31 December 2009 6:01 AM, PST | MTV Splash Page | See recent MTV Splash Page news »

It's out with the old and in with the new as 2009 transitions into 2010 in just a few short hours. There's no question that it's been a fantastic, crazy and occasionally tumultuous year for comic book fans thanks to film releases like "Watchmen" and compelling news stories regarding "Iron Man 2," "Green Lantern" and others.

But all of that is in the past now. It's time to look forward at what we can expect in the new year. There are still many announced comic book movies and television shows that lack official casting, but with some of these projects heading into production in 2010, it's only a matter of time before the secrets are revealed.

While we all have our own favorite franchises and characters, these are the five heroes and villains I'm dying to see cast in 2010.

'Siege' Thoughts, Illegal Comics Downloading And Philip Tan's Nova In Today's Twitter Report

30 December 2009 11:01 AM, PST | MTV Splash Page | See recent MTV Splash Page news »

Matt Fraction and Brian Michael Bendis have been spending some time together, and last night's topic of conversation was "Siege" #1. Judging from the comments, Bendis may or may not have trapped Fraction in his home, and being sealed in Bendis' house may or may not be a good thing.

Elsewhere, Ron Marz had some fighting words for illegal comics downloaders -- and particularly for those who are superhero readers. Check out his take on comics pirating after the jump along with some original Nova artwork from Philip Tan, Bryan Lee O'Malley's clarification on his "Inception" tweet yesterday and Robert Kirkman's beard.

It's all in the Twitter Report for December 30, 2009.

The Walking Dead– Compendium Volume One | Image Comics

Written by Robert Kirkman |  Art by Charlie Adlard, Cliff Rathburn, and Tony Moore

This is how it starts. Life is normal. The days go by. The night puts us to sleep. And then we wake up and realize we’re surrounded by zombies. In an instant, your enemies are your friends, and some of your friends become enemies. People around the country are opening up and adapting to a new beginning; a place where you have to survive and to do so, by looking over your shoulder every five minutes. Because if you don’t, a zombie just might make a breakfast out of you.

Before the New Year brings in a new decade of technological advancement, celebrity scandal, and one hit wonders, fans of zombies need to make a quick pit stop to the local bookstore or online seller for The Walking Dead »

Best Adaptation News

"The Walking Dead" Television Series (AMC)

Never in my life did I expect to hear Frank Darabont's name in the same sentence as "The Walking Dead," but fate apparently had other plans. Seriously, can you believe that Robert Kirkman's zombie-ridden comic book series will make the leap to live-action television on the same network as the amazing "Mad Men" with Darabont's expert vision at the helm? With movies like "The Shawshank Redemption" and "The Mist" to his name, there's no doubt that Darabont »

Murderer – Pilot Season Issue #1 | Top Cow Comics | Written by Robert Kirkman | Art by Nelson Blake II

Check Out The Five Page Preview Below!

Murderous thoughts. Sometime or another, someone pushes you so far into thinking these bad ideas, and thankfully, most of us keep them in our heads as passing thoughts. But what about the ones that think about them and then intend to act on them? Wouldn’t it be great to prevent them from happening?

Every year, Top Cow throws out a few ideas for fans to think about and possibly salivate over (Hello Angelus Queen!) into becoming an ongoing series. This season, they’ve called in “The Wolf” to lay out some ideas, and who better than to deliver the goods than fan favorite Robert Kirkman. How he has the time, I don’t know, but Kirkman (The Walking Dead, Marvel Zombies, The Astounding Wolf-man) is writing »

'Marvel Zombies' And Joss Whedon's 'X-Men' To Debut On iPhones

30 October 2009 1:31 PM, PDT | MTV Splash Page | See recent MTV Splash Page news »

Fans of Marvel Comics won't need to dig through the longboxes at their local comic book store to find some of their old favorites—for some of the company's best stories, all you need is an iPhone.

Marvel has released several new and classic comic book issues from its catalogue by way of Comixology, iVerse and Panelfly, three of the leading distributors of comic books for the iPhone. Among the comics released are the first 25 issues of Stan Lee and Steve Ditko's classic "Amazing Spider-Man" run and the entirety of Joss Whedon and John Cassaday's "Astonishing X-Men," which recently debuted as a motion comic book.

While available across Comixology, iVerse and Panelfly, the actual comic book offerings are fairly similar from provider to provider. All three are offering "Age of Apocalypse" #1-6, as well as issues of "Astonishing X-Men."

The greatest deal, however, seems to lie with Panelfly. »

Top Cow Productions, Inc. proudly announced today that Pilot Season 2009, an annual  tradition that give fans the power to choose the next two Top Cow series based on a selection of one-shot “pilot” issues, will kick off with Pilot Season: Murderer #1.  Due to arrive in comic books stores across the country on November 18, 2009, Pilot Season: Murderer #1 is 32 pages of moral torment in a character study conjured from the minds of Image Comics partners Robert Kirkman (The Walking Dead, Invincible) and Top Cow founder Marc Silvestri (X-Men/Dark Avengers: Utopia, The Darkness).

Kirkman writes the story of Jason Sparks, a man cursed to spend every waking moment being bombarded by the thoughts of strangers around him.  Every dirty little secret and every hidden desire screams out at him in a cacophony of voices in his head.  The only way to silent these voices, the only thing that buys Jason a moment of respite… »
