Trash compactors generally do not have shredders. Shredders are designed for one type of material (paper, plastic, wood, cardboard, etc.). They cannot handle a variety of regular trash - or the tire iron that clogged the machine. Even if this compactor was meant for just paper, there was no signage indicating this. See more
