Wayne Lytle: Self - commentary

Quotes

  • Wayne Lytle : [during the Pogo Sticks commentary; referring to the "Mr. Stick" guitar]  A lot of people really loved that instrument, and it's probably one of the simplist of all the instruments, but I think the fact that it has arms and plays with some enthusiasm really, uh, somehow people relate to it a little bit more; so it's a little bit character-oriented, which is not by any means our specialty. We're not character animators. As much as we're huge fans of Pixar and the incredible work they do, we see what we do as being very different from that, and we sort of steer away from characters with ears and eyes and everything.

  • Wayne Lytle : [Fiber Bundles commentary, towards the end]  This is probably my favorite animation on Animusic 2, at least, one of a couple, both visually and musically. I think Dave did a great job on the model. It's very organic and alien-looking, and yet still friendly and happy. And uh, true confessions time, I've played all three "Ratchet and Clank" video games more than anyone probably should, and I love the music in those games, and it's probably had a *little* influence over this piece.

  • Wayne Lytle : [Gyro Drums commentary]  Well, I have someone special with me here doing the director's commentary. It's my son Andrew, who's nine. He's nine right now, at least when we're recording it. If you're watching this years from now, he'll be older. But anyway, I want you to say "hi".

    Andrew Lytle : Hi.

Wayne Lytle : And, uh, do you wanna tell us anything about this animation?

[the satellite drummers in the video begin to drum more frantically]

Andrew Lytle : Well, this part is really colorful, and I think it took Dad a very long time to make it. It's my favorite animation because right now it's going to the electric drum part.

Wayne Lytle : Oh, this is your favorite part here, is it?

[the central drummer flips upside-down and the drums it hits light up with electric sounds]

    Andrew Lytle : Yeah.

Wayne Lytle : What do you like about this part?

Andrew Lytle : Uh, it's um... I just like the electric drums, the sound they make, and all.

Wayne Lytle : Well thanks for your comments, Andrew!

[Wayne proceeds to talk about the surround sound mix]
