The Host (2013)
Melanie Stryder: Wanda, my sister.
Wanderer/Wanda: Yes, sister?
Melanie Stryder: Please don't do this.
Wanderer/Wanda: Don't you want to be with Jared? And Jamie?
Melanie Stryder: It doesn't have to be this way. You don't have to die. You really could go to another world, the way you've been telling everyone.
Wanderer/Wanda: Thank you, but... by the time I got to the closest planet, you, Jamie, Jared, Ian, everyone on this world I care about would be long dead. I don't want to go on without you. I love you, Mel.
Melanie Stryder: I love you. You are the purest soul, human or not, that I've ever met. The universe will be a darker place without you.
Wanderer/Wanda: Be happy, Mel. Be happy that after living so many lives, I finally found something to die for.
Jared Howe: I haven't seen another human for years.
Melanie: I'm guessing you haven't kissed anyone in a while either.
Wanderer/Wanda: You tried to kill me before, and now you're trying to protect me?
Ian O'Shea: [beat] Strange world, huh?
Wanderer/Wanda: [smiles] The strangest.
Jared Howe: [about Melanie/Wanderer] It isn't human!
Ian O'Shea: So we stop acting human?
Wanderer/Wanda: [under her breath] You're angry when I kiss a man you do love, and you're angry when I kiss a man you don't. It's very confusing.
Jared Howe: It's a strange world.
Wanda: The strangest.
Jeb: [narrating] Our world isn't like the other worlds they came to. The way they see it, human beings are just so... alien. But if one of them can find a way to live with one of us, I wonder.
Ian O'Shea: I love you, Wanda.
Wanderer/Wanda: No, you don't. You love this body.
[takes his hand]
Wanderer/Wanda: If you could hold me... Me, in your hand... you would be disgusted.
Wanderer/Wanda: You would crush me.
Ian O'Shea: No, I wouldn't.
[he kisses her]
Melanie: We could be taken at anytime. Any day, any minute. All we have is now.
Jeb: This ain't a democracy. It's a dictatorship... It's a benign dictatorship, but it's a dictatorship just the same.
Wanderer/Wanda: You have always tried to extract it by force. The secret is, you do not remove it, it removes itself. You coax it out. You have always seen it as the enemy. You can feel the hate. It can only be captured by kindness, love.
Wanderer/Wanda: [softly, in awed voice] He sees everything. He's not insane, he's a genius!
Melanie: [voice] I think he might be both.
Jared Howe: What the hell is wrong with everybody, huh? It is the enemy, don't forget it.
Ian O'Shea: You don't feel bad at all. I *have* killed.
Jared Howe: It doesn't matter, it's not human.
Ian O'Shea: So we stop acting human?
Jeb: [Narrates] ... There is no Hunger. There is no violence. The environment has healed. Our planet has never been more at peace. Only, it's not our planet anymore.
Seeker Burns: I thought I was the only who switched sides.
Wanda: I guess you never know where you're gonna find your home.
Ian O'Shea: Wanda, I just want you to know that I trust you and I believe you are telling us the truth, but I gotta ask, what's it like for you and her, living in there together?
Melanie: It's... crowded.
Wanderer/Wanda: Why is he looking at you?
Melanie: Why are you looking at him?
Wanda: I guess you never know where you're going to find you home.
Wanderer/Wanda: [after Melanie says to jump off the balcony, afraid] I can't.
Melanie: [voice] Good thing I can.
[forces them to jump]
The Seeker: I have some good news. The picture of Jared Howe has helped. There has been a sighting. I am confident we will find him.
Wanderer/Wanda: [Melanie takes control] No!
Jared Howe: [after Wanda picks up some supplies] I liked it better when we stole everything.
Ian O'Shea: Yeah, Wanda. You spoil everything.
Jeb: The earth is at piece. There is no hunger. There is no violence. The environment is healed. Honesty, courtesy, kindness are practiced by all. Our world has never been more perfect. Only, it is no longer our world. We've been invaded by an alien race. They occupy the bodies of almost all human beings on the planet. The few humans who have survived are on the run.
