I can not bread, 25 February 2012
Author: katjaivanovna from Germany

This movie, this is an amazing story of essence of life, present ending of human evolution and Introduction to the end of the world as we know. This is not just a war movie, or local story. This is an universal story of the end of the human race. We have released the Evel and we are done on this planet. Not to mention excellent cast, actors who are brilliant in a specific and for some, completely new roles, and scene, Scenography, light, environment, camera... the overall atmosphere... Sound and ... all !!! The quality of acting was amazing. Transformation of characters and impressions of symbols... My God, this is an excellent Movie! I was breathless during the entire projection. The movie has not only psychological, but physical impact on me as a simple viewer.

I salute Mr. Zecevic and the cast! Brilliant!

It's a good movie with a great story, 29 February 2012
8/10
Author: filipppl from Serbia

In the opening scene we see a wall that is being torn down by some soldiers manually, brick by brick. As the light begins to get into a room we see a man with cigar who seems to be waiting for something. Then his brought to a burned house where soldiers have moved in. With disappearance of one of the soldiers, Sivi (Grey),unexpected things begin to occur.

This movie isn't best Serbian movie, it isn't great movie, it even isn't best Dejan Zecevic's movie, but it is a good movie. Acting is very good and scenery really reflects the movie's gloomy atmosphere. What I really loved about this film is a story. If you're looking for a fright you won't get them here, but if you want to watch a good thriller, this movie will give you some chills and get you thinking.

All in all, I recommend this movie for everyone who loves well made thriller with good written story.

10 out of 10 - not easily given from me!, 29 February 2012
Author: ujka_miljan from Serbia and Montenegro

The Hard Truth - that I would call it... Real truth of life. There's a bit of Devil and a bit of God in everyone of us. Watch it - think of the real Enemy. The only movie in the last ten years for which I am sorry that I have not watched on the big cinema screen!!! Spooky, mind blowing, horror and a thriller, with a little bit of psychological drama - just not to take viewers for granted. Zecevic gives us first-class blockbuster. What is the meaning of life? Do we exist? How does God look like? What is the Devil? Is there a God? And all that happens around a small group of Serbian military de-miners working on fresh minefield in the center of an even more fresher PEACE :)

Amazing surprise, 8 March 2012
10/10

I was reluctant to watch this movie, fearing low cost production and with mostly unfamiliar actors - low grade acting. Boy was I wrong. This is a horror movie without any super special creature effects. It relies upon great story, acting, camera work and atmosphere. You can't tell who is kidding who and what the truth is - even in the very end. It is by far one of the best movies, and believe me - I watch 1 or 2 of them each day; US or international. If you like good psychological horror - this gets a thumbs up for must see!

I certainly hope to get this on DVD or Blue-ray; if someone finds out where to get it - PM me please. So lean back, turn on your plasma and enjoy the show :)

Amazing!, 24 March 2012
10/10

Fantastic film! So simple but so effective... Atmosphere and mystery around the main character and all insanity that his presence actually only emphasize, are shown in so simple but so effective way that this is a must see for all who wants to learn how to produce great film with minimalistic approach. Acting here is superb and actor who portraits "demon"/"god" is simple amazing. Zecevic manage to mess up minds of his characters and audience by mixing horror, mystery, drama and nonsense of war.

Together with "Zivi i mrtvi" (aka "The living and the dead") which has similar surreal anti-war story and equally great realisation and "Idi i smotri" this is the third best anti-war movie I've seen so far.

10/10

Armospheric and captivating, 10 March 2013
9/10
Author: Jan Janssen from Netherlands

After reading the positive reviews from both Croatian and Serbian side I had to see this movie. This is not a horror film for the lovers of lots of blood and chopped of heads although there are plenty of corpses at the end. What I found captivating is the atmosphere of malice and distrust that slowly builds up. Also the post-war world of destroyed buildings and believes is well captured. The actors play soldiers as if they fought in a war yesterday (did they?). The change of a group of guys who trust each other and laugh with each other into distrust is beautifully done. This slowly growing mistrust is the real enemy from the title, and this is obviously done by people who know what is about. I highly recommend this film. It is a real shame it did not get wider distribution.

Portent Drama . But Is It Horror, 11 February 2013
6/10
Author: Theo Robertson from Isle Of Bute, Scotland

The Gayton Peace Accord brings the Bosnian civil war to an end and a unit of Bosnian Serbs find a Serb civilian in a nearby factory . From then on strange things start happening I haven't seen too many Bosnian war films from the Blakans but the ones I've seen such as NO MAN'S LAND and PRETTY VILLAGE PRETTY FLAMES would seem more at home on the theatre stage rather than a cinema screen . By this I mean the location is static and the story is dialogue heavy and there is a small cast list . This slightly bizarre film by Dejan Zecevic is no different

In many ways THE ENEMY is similar to the 2001 British film THE BUNKER except for one important difference and that is THE BUNKER is a confirmed supernatural film where as THE ENEMY isn't . In truth this movie is a film that is entirely open to interpretation . Is the man the Chetniks find really an agent of either God or Satan ? Or is the mindset of the Chetniks something that leads to self fulfilling prophecy ?

One problem this leads to from a cinematic point of view is that not much happens . I do remember my problem with THE BUNKER is that low brow horror would have been preferable to the psychological chills suggested and this problem is reinforced with this film . The story doesn't actually get going in to the final third which makes for a rather mundane film which is a shame since the director and cinematographer bring a gloomy mis-en-scene to the movie but don't make the most of it

I suppose one positive that can be taken from THE ENEMY is that of the five previous comments on this page two are from Croatia and two from Serbia and they're all unanimous in enjoying this film which makes me optimistic that there is hope in the world
