Richard Castle: Let me borrow your magnifying glass.
NYPD Detective Kate Beckett: I don't have a magnifying glass.
Richard Castle: Isn't that standard issue for detectives?
NYPD Detective Kate Beckett: No, not since Sherlock Holmes.
NYPD Detective Kate Beckett: Are you looking at porn?
Richard Castle: I use Ryan's computer for that.
Jeff Dilahunt: Are you two together?
Richard Castle: [Castle and Beckett answer at same time] Not yet.
NYPD Detective Kate Beckett: Absolutely not.
Alexis Castle: [after Alexis' grandmother leaves the apartment, Alexis says to her father] Is insanity inherited?
Richard Castle: [Castle speaking about a murder suspect] This guy's got contingency plans for his contingency plans. It feels like we're battling a super-villian.
Martha Rodgers: I have two words for you: "hairline" and "receding".
[Castle grabs the toaster and looks at his reflection]
Martha Rodgers: [snickering] Made you look.
Captain Roy Montgomery: Do we know what was in the package?
NYPD Detective Kate Beckett: The courier company's looking into it right now. Whatever it was, somebody thought that it was worth killing for.
Richard Castle: Off the top of my head, I'm gonna go with nuclear launch codes, Dick Cheney's soul on its way to the devil...
Richard Castle: What are you ladies doing?
Martha Rodgers: Alexis is assisting me in creating a MyFace account.
Richard Castle: I think you mean...
Alexis Castle: Save your breath. I've been correcting her all morning.
Martha Rodgers: Well, it's my face, isn't it? It's not your face or someone else's face. I don't... well, anyway, my fellow cast members have been raving about what fun it is, what a great networking tool it is, so... here I am.
Alexis Castle: And now you just need to select a photo for your profile page.
Martha Rodgers: Okay. Should we go...
[holding up old glamor shots]
Martha Rodgers: Dramatic, or commercial, or sassy?
Richard Castle: Don't you have anything from this century?
Martha Rodgers: What, you think the hair's a bit dated?
Richard Castle: Not exactly what I was getting at.
Richard Castle: [answering a call] Yes, Beckett. Either there's a dead body or you just want to hear my sultry voice.
[he listens for a moment]
Richard Castle: Dead body it is.
Richard Castle: [watching Beckett with the victim's sister] How does she do that?
Captain Roy Montgomery: Better than anyone I know.
Richard Castle: You okay?
Captain Roy Montgomery: Her brother died trying to get something to me. No, I'm not okay.
NYPD Detective Kate Beckett: We still have the original murder from ten years ago. Everything started there.
Captain Roy Montgomery: Two fresh bodies, and you want to look at a murder ten years cold?
Richard Castle: Uh... when I'm writing a story, the beginning is always the hardest. But if you nail that, the rest of it could just fall into place.
Captain Roy Montgomery: Castle, this is not one of your books.
Richard Castle: No. But it is a mystery, and all mysteries are the same. Motive, opportunity, cover-up, conscience. These murders today were to cover up one ten years ago. That's where your leads are gonna be. Come on, Captain, what do you say? Let's take a little trip down memory lane.
Richard Castle: [in the morgue] You sure it's sanitary to be... eating here?
M.E. Sidney Perlmutter: You know the strength of the disinfectants we use here? This is the cleanest room in the city.
Richard Castle: [Perlmutter offers half his sandwich] I couldn't.
M.E. Sidney Perlmutter: Homemade.
Richard Castle: I *couldn't*.
Sara: You want to exhume my niece's body?
NYPD Detective Kate Beckett: We believe that there was evidence overlooked during the autopsy that could lead to her killer.
Sara: Well, you told me you caught the man. You told me it was over.
Captain Roy Montgomery: I thought it was. But whoever killed Olivia just murdered two more people. Your niece deserves justice, and so do they.
[Martha can't decide whether or not to accept an old flame's MySpace friend request]
Richard Castle: Oh, mother, come on. Accept the man's friend request already.
Martha Rodgers: Using that old photo was a horrible idea. Why didn't you stop me?
Richard Castle: Since when have I had the power to stop you from doing anything?
Martha Rodgers: What will Chet think, if he expects 1980s Martha and... pfft! Present-day Martha shows up?
Richard Castle: You tell anyone I said this and I'll deny it, and I'm only gonna say it once. 1980s Martha was pretty great. But present-day Martha is pretty spectacular, too.
Captain Roy Montgomery: [Esposito and Ryan bring in the corrupt prison guard] If there's anything I hate, it's a dirtbag in uniform.
NYPD Detective Kate Beckett: Sir, are you okay? You seem a little distracted.
Captain Roy Montgomery: No, I'm focused. Focused on the precinct being up for review, and our case closure rate being just under 1PP's new mandated minimum. Which, of course, doesn't take the budget cuts into consideration. Now how the hell am I supposed to catch more bad guys with fewer detectives?
