Swan lake

Larry, his father and cousin Andy come to the cemetery where Mrs. David is buried. Larry is appalled when he notices something misspelled on the stone. The bottom line reads "Past Away". His father tells him it was done intentionally because each letter costs an additional $200.00, Larry wants it corrected. Visiting cousin Andy's wife is into making hats that she wants Larry to promote with his celebrity friends. Instead, he offers to help with the college education of their daughter, a generous contribution.

Larry, Jeff, Andy and Marty meet for breakfast at the Black Swan golf course. Seeing Norm, the slowest golfer they know, seated at another table, Larry suggests they order light in order to go ahead of Norm and his party. Of course, the others beat Larry and his friends because Andy slowed them down. Larry gets exasperated after they wait more than 20 minutes for Norm to retrieve a lost ball. To their amazement, Larry and his party are told Norm had a massive stroke and died. A friend of Larry stops at the table to say hello. Marty comments about his rudeness for not introducing this man to the rest. Larry feels it doesn't make sense to have them meet this man they will never get to see again.

Earlier, in the restaurant, Larry had a discussion with the waiter that served them. Since an 18% tip is added to all orders, Larry feels it's too complicated to start figuring another amount to complete a 20%, or even a 25% total gratuity. The waiter didn't appreciate Larry's reply. This same waiter will be a key figure later on.

Larry and his friends meet again to play at the Black Swan. When Larry's ball lands near a pond, a black swan, the pet of Mr. Takahashi, the club's owner, comes to attack Larry, who strikes the bird with his iron and kills it. The others look aghast at what their friend had done. Secrecy is vital, so the four partners bury the bird nearby in the forest. The gardeners find the dead swan and bring it to Mr. Takahashi, who is sad because of his loss.

When Larry contacts the stone engraver to explain the changes in his mother's tomb, Andy interrupts him asking him if he can get Derek Jeeter to plug one of his wife's hats. The engraver hears Larry calls his cousin a name and takes offense. Meanwhile at the memorial for Norm, everyone's under the impression that because of Larry's ill treatment caused the death. Larry has another surprise coming to him in the way of the stranger talking to Marty, he is Ed, the engraver, who has a big surprise as the show ends for Larry. Mr. Takahashi, passing by is shocked when he reads the message written on Larry's late mother's headstone.

Another great episode of this amazing series. Bryan Gordon directed this show from the seventh season in which Larry, takes time to examine those things that annoy him. One of them is having to introduce to a group somebody that has no connection to anyone, and who will probably will never see each other again. Same goes for the way he feels about tipping, and about lying to cover something wrong.

Larry David is the star of his own creation, as he proves in every chapter of the series. His presence is the source of irritation of friends and enemies, but they have to accept him because the man is irresistible. The ensemble cast does well under Mr. Gordon's direction.
