If you’ve already watched Netflix’s Stranger Things once (or twice, or maybe even three times), then you undoubtedly have the original music by Kyle Dixon and Michael Stein swirling through your brain. Soon, you’ll be able to take the synth sounds of Hawkins with you wherever you go, as Lakeshore Records will release the Stranger Things soundtrack in two volumes on both digital and CD formats.
The first volume of the Stranger Things soundtrack hits digital platforms on August 12th and comes out as a CD on September 16th. Volume two won’t be far behind, as it’s slated for an August 19th digital release and a September 23rd CD debut.
For more information, we have the official press release with full details, as well as the track listing for volume one (courtesy of Pitchfork) and the cover art for the soundtrack:

It would seem I have a love/hate relationship with the work of director Jeffrey Lando. On the one hand he has helmed fantastic direct to DVD movies such as Insecticidal (yes I really rather enjoyed that – even if Lando himself has a little disdain for it on his official blog), but on the other he was the director on House of Bones, a film whose ending, at the time, frustrated me to no end. But that was five years ago and since then we’d had a slew of TV movies from Lando, including the superb Syfy channel horror movie Goblin: an underrated gem that didn’t really achieve the same dizzy heights of success as those “other” Syfy monster movies!

You might have seen your birthday party reflected in their gleaming surfaces once upon a time. As they sang, their glazed eyes may have caught your own lively ones, and perhaps you noticed a little life in the pupils of the animatronic animal on stage. In the Five Nights at Freddy's video game, those robotic performers walk and kill at night, and Warner Bros. has taken notice of this creepy premise, as they have acquired the adaptation rights to the popular survival horror game. In our latest round-up, we also take a look at the release information for Arrow Video's Blu-ray / DVD of 1980's Contamination.
Five Nights at Freddy's: The Hollywood Reporter reveals that a Five Nights at Freddy's feature film adaptation is in development at Warner Bros.
Vertigo Entertainment's Roy Lee and KatzSmith Productions' Seth Grahame-Smith (author of Pride and Prejudice and Zombies) and David Katzenberg will produce the movie.

Stars: Brittany Allen, Freddie Stroma, Melanie Papalia, Jesse Moss, Anja Savcic, Sean Rogerson, Emily Perkins, Mike Kovac, Fred Keating, Gil Bellows, Michael Ironside | Written and Directed by The Vicious Brothers
The Vicious Brothers, writer/directors of the two popular Grave Encounters found-footage flicks, turn their hands to a more traditional narrative movie, mixing traditional filming methods with their penchant for Pov shaky-cam, with Extraterrestrial.
Still reeling from her parents divorce, April (Brittany Allen) is dragged back to the vacation cabin she spent fond summers at as a child accompanied by a group of friends. Her trip down memory lane takes a dramatic and terrifying turn when a fireball descends from the sky and explodes in the nearby woods. Lead by her boyfriend (Freddie Stroma), the group venture out toward the crash site and discover the remnants of a ship from another planet along with footprints that suggest its alien occupants are still alive.

Films with great women’s roles aren’t always great films. Films with poor female representation aren’t necessarily bad films. But poorly written female roles will always be a problem for cinema so long as they continue to persist. The damsel in distress. Angel-whore. The token girl. Trophy wives. Mother, daughter, sister. The unconditional love interest. These are among the popular clichés most frequently applied to female characters as they’re written on the page. Some films are so desperate for conflict that they just keep going to the well without altering the mold. Have women not earned the right by now to play more villains, complicated lovers, a-holes, The Best Friends, soldiers, comic reliefs or leads? Can a woman be sexy in a film and still have a great role? Yes. Give her agency. Can a woman support other characters but still have a great role? Yes. Keep her vital.

Nominations for the 41st Annual Annie Awards were announced and "Frozen" and "Monsters University" led the pack with 10 nominations each. "Despicable Me 2" and "The Croods" followed closely with 9 noms each.
I am rooting for "Frozen" to win! It's a return to form to what Disney does best -- affecting fairy tale with memorable musical numbers. "Monsters University," on the other hand, was bland. The film bored me on second viewing.
Steven Spielberg will receive the Winsor McCay Award for career achievement at the awards ceremony happening on Saturday, Feb. 1, at Royce Hall on the UCLA campus. Patrick Warburton will serve as host.

Before the week is out we will know the identity of the 12th Doctor. Man, woman, black, ginger, disabled, cat, dog... we couldn't care less anymore, we just want to know who it is. The tension is killing us.
In an attempt to try to keep us busy until the big reveal on Sunday night (August 4), Digital Spy has been doing some fantasy Doctor Who casting.
Keep reading to find out who we would like to see taking over from Matt Smith in the Tardis.

I always prefer Doctor Who when it has a darker and more sinister tone, so ideally I'd like the BBC to pick someone who is more Eccleston than Tennant in style. If I was truly in fantasy land, I'd go for Andrew Lincoln, but he's currently far too busy kicking zombie ass on The Walking Dead.

As you read this, I'm raising a glass of something strong to Marc Webb. Not because the (500) Days of Summer (2009) director has recently delivered a decent reboot of the Spider-Man franchise, which for the record he has, but because he's ended years of anguish and disappointment that myself and many other fans have felt over Marvel's desecration of the memory of Peter Parker's first true love, the one and only Gwen Stacy.
After being given little more than a walk on part in Sam Raimi's competent but cluttered third Spider-Man movie back in 2007, Webb eschewed party girl turned model Mary Jane Watson as the wallcrawler's love interest in the recent The Amazing Spider-Man (2012) and instead resurrected the bright young thing who, for me at least, was always the better match for Parker; and who made controversial comic book history high atop the George Washington Bridge in June 1973 when writer...

He's played a stranded alien, a vampire cellist and a pretty PoW – but David Bowie rarely gets his due as an actor. Ryan Gilbey talks to the directors who know him best about an original, 'incandescent' talent
He hasn't performed in public for six years, or released an album in almost a decade, but there is a lot of David Bowie about. His music featured prominently in both the opening and closing ceremonies of the 2012 Olympic Games: Danny Boyle included a shot of him playing a discombobulated alien in Nicolas Roeg's The Man Who Fell to Earth; and the closing catwalk show played out to the sound of Bowie's Fashion (a big disappointment to those hoping for a rumoured live performance of Heroes). Even in his absence, Bowie eclipsed the stars who did turn up.
Next year, the Victoria and Albert museum will host an extensive exhibition of Bowie's costumes,...

Goblin
Stars: Gil Bellows, Tracy Spiridakos, Camille Sullivan, Erin Boyes | Written by Raul Inglis | Directed by Jeffery Scott Lando
In 1831, on the eve of Halloween, the villagers of Hollow Glen engage in an annual festival where they toss their diseased crops into a blazing fire, in hopes of blessing them with an abundant field for the next year. But when one couple takes the ritual too far and throws their sickly, deformed child into the inferno, their murderous action results in something far more horrific than they could have imagined. Out of the ashes and smoke rises something so evil, so monstrous, that the town is forever cursed. This creature is known as the Goblin… and he waits for the moments when he can seek his revenge!
Another in the long line of Syfy channel original movies, Goblin makes it UK DVD debut two years after originally airing in the Us.

Oh, to be a young girl in a made-for-television horror film!
Everyone is against you and no one could possibly ever understand your emotional turmoil, but you reserve the right to be upset when they die. Syfy’s Goblin is like an episode of "Party of Five," except more characters lose their intestines.
Goblin is a tricky beast. It’s both so-bad-it’s-good at moments and so overwhelmingly boring at other moments. Back in the year of 1831 in the small town of Hollowglen the townspeople burn a witch’s deformed baby. Why, you ask? Because it’s a cleansing fire that is supposed to rid the town of bad things. Seemingly, they’ve never meddled with this witch (who uses none of her powers to stop the loonies from burning her baby alive). Once the baby is crispy, she summons up a goblin to eat babies in the vicinity of Hollowglen on every Halloween.

This weekend’s Jabberwock gives the Syfy creature feature treatment to the insect-headed dragon of Lewis Carroll’s Alice in Wonderland. Syfy has posted two clips from the medieval monster movie from I Spit on Your Grave remake director Steven R. Monroe.
Jabberwock stars Michael Worth (“Acapulco H.E.A.T.”, Sasquatch Mountain), Tahmoh Penikett (“Battlestar Galactica”, Trick ‘r Treat), and Kacey Barnfield (Resident Evil: Afterlife, Lake Placid 3). Rafael Jordan (Frost Giant, Yeti: Curse of the Snow Demon) and Raul Inglis (Sand Serpents, Goblin) handled the scripting duties.
Here’s a rather spoiler-y synopsis for Jabberwock courtesy of the film’s distributors at American World Pictures that was clearly written by someone who confused the concept of synopsis with treatment. Whoever wrote it also doesn’t have much need for silly things like paragraphs. Believe me, when I start giving grammar lessons, you've got problems.

What kind of high school would you find Danny Trejo as a bad ass janitor, Charisma Carpenter as a sexy librarian, and M.C. Gainey as its headmaster? My kind of high school, that’s what. Too bad it’s haunted.
Haunted High is a new Syfy original starring major bad ass Danny Trejo, major babe Charisma Carpenter, and another bad ass not to be trifled with, “Lost” heavy M.C. Gainey.
Obviously, they are a little too old to be playing students. Key members of the student body will be played by Marc Donato of “Degrassi: Next Generation” and newcomer Jonathan Baron.
The Hollywood Reporter’s “Heat Vision” blog brings us word of the premise:
The story, by Paul A. Birkett and Anthony C. Ferrante, is set at the fictional Holloman Academy, a New England private school that is visited by a demonic dead headmaster (Gainey).

If you’ve seen one small town under supernatural siege, you’ve seen them all – or maybe not. As you watch, Raul Inglis’ Goblin screenplay tips the hat to every conceivable cliché. Inglis, who once wrote for 1994 TV-series ReBoot (props in this writer’s book), has made a career out of writing low budget scare flicks and thrillers, as well as directing several films and television episodes, including the upcoming Salesmen, which lists a “rumored” cast of Jeff Goldblum, Ben Kinglsey, Zack Braff, and William H. Macy, among others. There’s no such notable cast teaming with director Jeffery Scott Lando to deliver this film, a by-the-numbers schlocky horror affair that sees everyone phoning it in.
The most familiar face of cast is one Gil Bellows, who’s immortalized himself by playing Tommy in a little movie called Shawshank Redemption. It’s a small role, as you may recall, but...

Maple Pictures will release the Goblin on DVD July 26th. This feature originally showed on the SyFy network in 2010. Since then, Goblin has been called: "nothing fantastical" and "nothing frightening" (DVD Verdict). However, some fans might enjoy a story of a deformed child, curses and a whining step-child (DVD Verdict). You get your chance to throw a "deformed child into the inferno" (Maple) in just a couple weeks and the DVD artwork for Goblin is posted left.
The synopsis for Goblin is here:
"In 1831, on the eve of Halloween, the villagers of Hollow Glen engage in an annual festival where they toss their diseased crops into a blazing fire, in hopes of blessing them with an abundant field for the next year. But when one couple takes the ritual too far and throws their sickly, deformed child into the inferno, their murderous action results in something far more horrific than they could have imagined.

I don’t mean to be bitter, but I think I’m going to look back at “Goblin” with some serious hate, and it’s really not the film’s fault. It doesn’t deserve my anger or spite. It’s not controversial or schocking. It’s not extreme or offensive. It’s just a sort of run of them mill SyFy Movie of the Week, nothing too out of the ordinary, but it’s going down in my book as the first film to make me feel very, very old.
It wasn’t the plot that did it. No, that was fine, if a little tired. What we get is a mash up of “Blair Witch” and “Pumpkinhead,” where a wronged mother back in the 1800’s puts a curse on a town after they burn her child. That curse comes in the form of...

Without a doubt my favorite holiday of the year is Halloween. Some people will argue over which is the best horror film of the season. Some say John Carpenter's Halloween, and other say Trick r' Treat. Well the folks over at Lionsgate just may have a new contender for us all this year. This July 26th, Lionsgate will be releasing their own Halloween horror tale entitled, Goblin onto DVD. The flick is directed by Jeffery Scott Lando, and it stars…...

Everyone has their Halloween traditions. Some people decorate their homes. Others throw lavish parties. And some? Some people like tossing hideously deformed children into raging bonfires. Those folks know how to party, man!
On July 26th Lionsgate will be releasing the new Halloween horror tale Goblin onto DVD. The flick, directed by Jeffery Scott Lando, stars Gil Bellows, Tracy Spiridakos, Camille Sullivan, and Donnelly Rhodes.
Dig on the artwork below.
Synopsis
Each Halloween night, the small town of Hollow Glen is visited not by trick-or-treaters but by a creature known as The Goblin. In what began as a harmless fall festival ritual, local farmers threw their diseased crops into a large bonfire to bless the soil for the following year. But in 1831, a troubled couple took the ritual too far and threw their sickly, deformed child into the fire. Out of the ash arose something evil, and ThevGoblin now stalks...

This summer, the creature awaits as Lionsgate debuts Goblin on DVD this July. Starring Gil Bellows, Camille Sullivan and Donnelly Rhodes, the original movie premiered on SyFy in July 2010 to more than 1.5 million viewers. In the tone and tradition of such sci-fi horror classics as Leprechaun and Labyrinth , Goblin follows a family haunted by a century-old creature on Halloween. Merlin, starring Colin Morgan, Bradley James and Anthony Head, returns for a third season on Syfy beginning Friday, January 7, at 10Pm (Et/Pt).
Few shows have had the sort of rough history that Merlin has had to survive, including the simple lack of attention, and fewer still are as fun and wild. Somewhere in the general category of such things as Hercules, Robin Hood, and Legend of the Seeker, Merlin finds us tagging along with the earlier versions of our Camelot legends. Uther is alive, and has outlawed magic, and Merlin is Arthur's squire-come-houseboy who has to somehow perfect his abilities without being able to use them openly. We have to get from there to the days that rise to mythic stature (so I guess we know who isn't going to die), all the while doing battle with a variety of beasts and baddies.

If Syfy keeps a list of monsters of myth, legend, and cryptozoology, after this weekend they can scratch "goblin" off the list. The new Syfy creature feature Goblin is set at Halloween time, so what better time for Syfy to premiere it than in the middle of July; this Saturday night at 9/8 Central.
A murderous, baby-stealing goblin comes to life on Halloween, setting his sights on an unsuspecting family. The teenage daughter must stop the goblin from stealing her baby brother before he becomes part of a goblinesque smorgasboard!
Goblin stars Gil Bellows of "Ally McBeal" and Donnelly Rhodes and Camille Sullivan, both of "Battlestar Galactica". Jeffery Scott Lando (Decoys 2: The Second Seduction, House of Bones, Thirst) directs from a script by Raul Inglis (Syfy's Sand Serpents and Cerberus).
Syfy has posted three brief clips from Goblin designed to entice viewers into tuning in. A 7-foot goblin dressed like...

Foy first told us about Jeffery Lando's House of Bones, in which the lovely Charisma Carpenter plays a ghost hunter, back in December of 2008, and finally this weekend it debuts on Syfy. In addition, the indie filmmaker who hails from Vancouver has two other Canadian premieres happening within the next few days.
But first here's what Lando has to say about House of Bones:
"[It's] a fun horror film where the cast and crew of a Ghost Hunter reality show get trapped in a house that really Is haunted. This is the movie I directed in Louisiana a year ago with a gang of wildmen genre filmmakers from La. It begins airing this Saturday (the 16th) at 9 Pm (8 Central)." Here's a sneak peek courtesy of Syfy:
Next, screenwriter Kevin Mosley set up a benefit screening of Lando's feature debut, Savage Island (starring Don S. Davis, Winston Rekert, Brendan Beiser, Kristina Copeland), for this coming Tuesday,...
