Subtle and Intense

Subtle and Intense, Two Birds is a great watch. Lead actors Michael Buscemi and Paul Calderon are excellent, and the cinematography is great. The two main characters, Randall and Jerome are portrayed with a personal sensitivity that fills out the short film in a touching and human way. The story certainly has a heavy component to it, but the production eases it by interweaving some entertaining personal issues as we follow the action which weaves it way along an interesting path. The story allows for some very nice imagery around a section of the waterfront and a residential suburb of New York City. From time to time, there is just a bit of humor below the surface of the film which lightens the subject matter of the story in a good way. The final scene typifies this quite nicely, and leaves me with a piqued intellect, but a good feeling about the film. The title Two Birds seems so appropriate and becomes kind of a joy as I looks back over the viewing experience. I say bravo to the director, cinematographer, and actors
