After Harry Potter franchise star Emma Watson didn't close a deal to star in Disney's live-action take on Cinderella, the search was still on for someone to take the iconic princess lead. Previous names like Saoirse Ronan (Hanna), Gabriella Wilde (The Three Musketeers) and Alicia Vikander (A Royal Affair) had also tested for the role, but instead a different name has surfaced as the winner. Disney has announced in a press release that Lily James, best known for her work in the TV series "Downton Abbey," has landed the potential breakthrough role alongside Cate Blanchett who is still attached to play the wicked stepmother. Chris Weitz wrote the script and Kenneth Branagh (Thor, Hamlet) is directing after Mark Romanek clashed with the studio over creative differences, largely due to the filmmaker's darker approach. We're anticipating a much more gritty, less fantastical approach to the material, but nothing too stark since it's from Disney after all. »

He's joined by Tom Burke as Athos, Royal Shakespeare Company-trained actor Howard Charles as Porthos, and Santiago Cabrera, who played Lancelot in Merlin, plays Aramis.

BBC America will premiere the all-new series "The Musketeers" in 2014, and they've just released the very first look at the famed trio and their pal D’Artagnan (above). Yepm they look like Musketeers alright. The series appears to be a faithful take on Alexandre Dumas' original stories, taking place in 17th century Paris, where King Louis Xiii’s personal bodyguards, Athos, Aramis and Porthos stand for social justice, while indulging in their legendary pursuit of thrills and romance. Carrie was originally expected to be in theaters over a month ago, but Screen Gems rightly decided to avoid confrontation with Evil Dead and shifted it to mid-October where it resides smack dab in-between Spike Lee's Oldboy and Paranormal Activity 5. One, if not two, of those films is looking to fail as the marketplace can only sustain so much violence and scares. While the three films aren't exactly equals, I just can't imagine all three finding success so close together. Moving along... With the date shift I'm sure Screen Gems has plenty of marketing to offer given the fact they were prepped for an early year release and now have an additional seven months to continue the awareness campaign. Today I have a few updates for you including two pictures and a bloody new poster (via Empire). Carrie is a new adaptation of the Stephen King novel of the »

The eight-part drama starts tonight on Fox with Leonardo as a sword-wielding rogue. Later in the year sees a new version of The Three Musketeers, plus several pirate dramas and other historical epics. Is it all too much swashbuckling and sorcery?
The problem with a show becoming a hit is that suddenly every one else wants a piece of the action. Thus, after Lost, we were inundated with overly complex dramas filled with secrets and cryptic clues (Flash Forward, The Event, Alcatraz); without Mad Men's Emmy success, it is unlikely networks would have been desperate to commission either Pan Am or The Playboy Club. And now, thanks to the success of Game of Thrones, viewers are being treated to a whole raft of historical fantasy shows.
Take Da Vinci's Demons, which starts on Fox this evening. The eight-part drama recasts the renaissance artist Leonardo da Vinci as a charming rogue »

For actors there are different levels of fame. Some are world famous household names like Brad Pitt, Tom Cruise and Johnny Depp, while others are characters actors who you may not necessarily know by name but you will surely know their faces.
This is a list of eight such British actors. The description of “that guy from that thing” isn’t meant as an insult – quite the opposite. These are examples of great British actors who inhabit whatever role they take on, blending into the film at hand to become an integral part of why the movie works – sometimes they are even the best part of an otherwise mediocre/bad film.
Note: I have decided to limit the list to just actors instead of actresses for the time being. However, I may do a list of “that gal from that thing” at some point.
So without further ado here are »
