Video: Enlightened's Season 2 Trailer Has Arrived

4 December 2012 12:12 PM, PST | TVLine.com | See recent TVLine.com news »

It may not get quite as much buzz as fellow HBO comedies Girls and Veep, but I’m equally (maybe even slightly more) excited for the Jan. 13 return of Enlightened, Laura Dern and Mike White’s look at one slightly unhinged woman’s fight against The Man.

HBO recently released the Golden Globe-nominated series’ Season 2 trailer, which is set to the rousing tune of Fun’s “Some Nights,” and features the arrival of an investigative reporter played by Dermot Mulroney.

Meet the New Miss Golden Globe! Whose Daughter Is She?

30 November 2012 2:00 PM, PST | TooFab | See recent TooFab news »

Which legendary actor's daughter was just named Miss Golden Globe 2013?Fracesca Eastwood -- the daughter of Clint Eastwood and Frances Fisher -- will be passing out statues at next year's award show in January. Every year, the Hollywood Foreign Press Association bestows the honor among the child of an established actor. Some of the former honorees have fallen into obscurity (ahem, A.J. Lamas) while others have had award winning careers of their own.Others, like Melanie Griffith ("Working Girl") and Laura Dern ("Recount" and "Enlightened"), have become Golden Globes winners themselves. It's hard to predict where Francesca Eastwood will end up. Like A.J. Lamas, she's already appeared on a panned reality show -- "Mrs. Eastwood & Company" (which aired on E! -- the same network as "Keeping Up With the Kardashians") -- but given her pedigree she may be destined for acting greatness.Click on the "Launch Gallery" above to see »

Watch: Trailer for the New Season of 'Girls' Finds Lena Dunham in Search of Love, Happiness or Maybe Just Awkward Sex (Video)

30 November 2012 9:14 AM, PST | Indiewire Television | See recent Indiewire Television news »

Lena Dunham's divisive, much-talked about and (by this writer's measure) pretty damn great HBO series "Girls" returns for a second season on Sunday, January 13 at 9pm, followed by the second season premiere of Laura Dern and Mike White's "Enlightened" at 9:30pm. We last left Hannah Horvath (Dunham) eating cake on the beach alone after her friend Jessa's (Jemima Kirke) spontaneous marriage and her own serious fight with boyfriend Adam (Adam Driver). Will Hannah patch things up with her oddball love and finally write the book that marks her as a, if not the, voice of a generation? Will her moving in with her now gay ex Elijah (Andrew Rannells) end in disaster? Will the introduction of Donald Glover provide an adequate response to those who criticized the series for its lack of diversity? Check out the trailer below... and find out.

Watch: The Trailer for Season Two of 'Enlightened' Sets Laura Dern's Revolution to the Sounds of fun. (Video)

HBO is pairing the new season of "Enlightened" with "Girls" in the upcoming year, with the two female-led series returning Sunday, Jan. 13. Lena Dunham's comedy will lead off at 9 pm, with Mike White's following at 9:30. It will have been more than a year off the air for "Enlightened," which closed out its first ten-episode season in December 2011. While it was well-received by critics, the series, which stars Laura Dern as an executive who returns to work after a professional meltdown and philosophical awakening, will probably benefit from its new proximity to the buzzier "Girls." Jonathan Demme Will Stoke 'Old Fires'

You may think that Oscar-winning director Jonathan Demme has had a quiet few years following 2008’s “Rachel Getting Married,” but that’s actually far from the truth. Since then Demme has directed a whole heap of documentary and concert films, and last year he was getting behind the camera for the pilot of “A Gifted Man” and a couple of episodes of “Enlightened.” In fact, there may be few busier directors out there right now, with Demme’s super low budget “Wally and Andre Shoot Ibsen” currently in post-production, and an animated adaptation of Dave Eggers’ “Zeitoun” and an adaptation of Stephen King’s time travel thriller “11/22/63” both in the works. Oh, and he also looks set to re-team with Anne Hathaway on “Song One,” which he’s producing. Now, Demme has another project to add to that list: he is attached to direct an indie family dramedy, “Old »

HBO: Girls, Enlightened to Return January 13th

15 October 2012 2:21 PM, PDT | TVovermind.com | See recent TVovermind.com news »

HBO has announced the premiere dates for the second seasons of comedies Girls and Enlightened. Beginning on January 13th at 9:00, the 10-episode sophomore run of critical darling Girls will commence, while the Mike White comedy Enlightened will return from a year-long hiatus at 9:30. Both will be airing in a different timeslot than they did during their previous seasons, as Girls premiered this spring at 10:00 with Veep and Enlightened was paired with Bored to Death during HBO's brief foray into Monday night programming.

In addition, the two will have the rare task of airing on a night without a drama, as the sudden cancellation of Luck left HBO without an hour-long ready to air come January. Last January, the network debuted the horse racing drama from David Milch at 9:00 and doubled up episodes of Chris Lilley's Angry Boys at 10:00 and 10:30, respectively.
