not that great
LasPlagas9622 August 2018
It was really hard for me to determine if the acting was intentionally so comedic or if it was just plain awful. Was this meant to be a horror film parody or a serious film? The caracters were all exaggerated, for example the blonde chick was way too hysteric to the point it got annoying. The filming and cuts from scene to scene were also not that good, it didn't create any form of scary atmosphere or feeling of horror, many klischees, it only got me some moments of laughter.

Not worth your time

I dont remember why we watched this but it wasn't worth it. I dont even think it's a so bad it's good movie, it's just so bad it's bad. Not the worst movie ever, I guess some of the characters can do funny things sometime but its few and far between. Just skip this

"Did You Bring The Idiot Bag?!"...
azathothpwiggins3 May 2021
In GOATSUCKER, a group of cryptology enthusiasts venture forth on the hiking tour of the title, led by the obviously unenthused Heidi (Kim Welsh). She was called upon after the original guide was inadvertently annihilated by the monster. Of course, things quickly turn dire, and -shockingly- no one's cell phone works due to the remote location.

Meanwhile, Cassy (Amanda Stone) has set off to hunt the very same creature, after it relieves her of her father.

This movie was far more enjoyable than expected. The story is fun, the characters have actual personalities, and the acting is adequate. In addition, the camerawork is better than it should be, and not as static as in most other low-budget productions of this type.

Gorehounds should also take note: There are several gushy deaths to drool over!

EXTRA POINTS FOR: #1- The twisty plot that takes some unexpected turns! #2- The high-pitched screams of a hiker named Rhonda (Emily Fitzmaurice), that could strip the paint off of a Lamborghini!...

Indie found footage badness
Leofwine_draca9 January 2018
Warning: Spoilers
GOATSUCKER is another in an endless line of found footage horror films made by indie directors. Typically they involve a bunch of hikers heading out into the woods to look for legendary creatures; here, it's the true-life legend of the Chupacabra, although why they didn't head off to Mexico to hunt for it I don't know. There's little monster material here, just human conflict and a bit of unpleasantness. The acting is very bad indeed and there's a general poor quality feel to the proceedings.

Probably the Worst Movie
tannerlee-6471622 August 2020
I hate to completely bash a movie after people have put hard work into it, but this is horrendous. The script is poorly written, the plot is uninspired, the acting is unpleasant, the camera work is annoyingly dull (and shakey), and the editing is monotonous.

If there's anything good to say about this film, it would be that the ending is a little shocking...but also terrible.

In the end, you should give this movie a try. You might learn something.

Lace up your hiking boots...
masodo10 August 2013
What in the world would bring these people together on a hiking tour into the very woods known to be inhabited by a Goat Sucker? A quest for adventure? Some fresh air and exercise? Hoping to see a Goat Sucker? Screw loose? They all have their reasons...

Many of the same questions could be asked of this viewer. What made me think it would be a good idea to watch a film about such questionable judgment? The fact that it is a Big Biting Pig Production of course. As usual Steve Hudgins delivers another "Sucker" punch to those who think they know how the story is going to play out.

Shot for the very most part in the woods of Kentucky, I was impressed with the expert camera handling and "extra-effort" angles. The sound was flawless in my observation, no easy task in a location picture I imagine. A truly professional film that belies its' indie origins. The cast of characters steps-up to deliver their all-star talent lending complete believability to the project.

It offers parallel plots that twist and turn like some sort of racing roller coaster ride and nobody has been given a seat belt. My advice is "Hold on tight and enjoy the ride," I sure did!

A smoothly made in-the-woods horror!
sooperdw4 April 2014
I had visions of the Blair Witch Project when reading the synopsis on this one. If you are a horror fan this will not disappoint. I like bit of escapism hidden away in the woods. The suspense and horror on this built and delivered in a timely way. Although the judgement of the characters for placing themselves in harm's way was clearly questionable isn't it always when you seen people you identify with getting into a nightmare they cannot escape? In fact the cringe factor in shouting "No!" is part of the deal in watching a good horror and it is when you reach that point that you realise that the film has taken you in and worked in the way that is was supposed to. The story was unpredictable which added to the value and in all I would say a very good horror.

GOATSUCKER is a really fun low-budget horror film!
ryanbartongrimley8 January 2018
GOATSUCKER is a really fun low-budget horror film! There are a ton of low-budget horror films that pretend to be cool and quirky and gory, but most of them feel really fake. This film however really delivers. There are great performances. It's funny, campy, scary and gory. And it's legitimately indie which I personally really love! This thing is seriously entertaining and I was literally howling with laughter. Bravo!

A really fun creature feature!
Anmer934 September 2019
A really fun creature feature, with actually some surprising twists and turns in the story. If you're looking for a leave your good time with some horror, kick back with this and enjoy the right, true it's not made on the budgets as some of its studio competitors but I tell you, you'll have just as much if not more fun right here.

Campy as Hell!
mikitarianlisa5 January 2018
The acting, the "special effects," some of the plot--campy and fun! What makes the film great, though, is the way Steve Hudgins' stock characters gained dimension (if not smarts) as the campy plot unfolded. Also love the way he dropped in characters along the way. Perfect amount of backstory to add to the mystery of THE GOATSUCKER!
