Trivia

Gina Carano underwent a six-week intensive tactical training course with Aaron Cohen, an ex-Israeli special ops fighter. She spent three hours a day in stunts and three hours a day with Cohen. During a particularly harrowing two-week period when Cohen was teaching Carano the art of surveillance and countersurveillance, he and his team tracked her via a GPS system installed in her car. He gave her a prop blue pistol to use as defense and intercepted her as she was coming out of a hair salon. "I just got extensions and was feeling so pretty and there he was," recalls Carano, laughing. "He taught me entry and exiting a building, clearing a room, he put a GPS on my car, he like, followed me around. He had me stalking people, he had people stalking me. They just put me with a soldier who had never done a film before either. We were just soldier and a fighter thrown together in these unique circumstances and got to know each other's backgrounds. I think that was the biggest part of my preparation." See more »

Goofs

When Mallory and Aaron fight in the diner in the opening scene, Aaron attempts to shoot Mallory at close range while she is lying on the ground. Immediately after the shot, the powder burn from the muzzle blast is clearly seen on the floor of the diner next to Mallory's head. However, there is no other damage to the floor as an entering bullet would have made, revealing only the damage that a blank cartridge would cause. See more »

A very cool retro spy film
24 January 2012 | by See all my reviews

I really liked "Haywire" and Gina Carano is one tough cookie with an ax to grind. The film has a very independent feel about it, along with a very retro style. Carano is great in her role, totally believable and the girl does her own stunts! The story is a bit hard to follow so you do have to pay attention and have a normal adult attention span. If you are expecting "Fast and Furious" or some other schlock like that, this is not the movie for you. There are intense action scenes and slower parts where the story really unfolds. All of the male stars in this film are simply backdrop for Gina's kick ass, don't f**k with me fellows attitude. A very unique and intelligent story worth seeing.
