Nice Zombie Short

Zombies & Cigarettes (2009)

*** (out of 4)

Nice Spanish short from directors Rafa Martinez and Inaki San Roman has Xavi (Samuel Viyuela) visiting a mall when a zombie outbreak happens. Xavi quickly comes to the rescue of Carol (Aroa Gimeno), a girl he likes but not everything plays out as planned.

ZOMBIES & CIGARETTES is a pretty good little film that manages to keep you entertained throughout its 17 minute running time. I think both lead actors are quite good here and they certainly come across as very likable. I really thought there was some nice style on display and especially during one scene where the camera is racing down a mall hall and there's all sorts of action going on. Another good sequence happens when they finally discover how to destroy the zombies. There's some nice gore scattered throughout so zombie fans should enjoy this.
