When the story begins, Bart Matthews (series star Reed Hadley) is visiting Joe in jail. It seems that he's been charged with Attempted Murder for a fight he had with his boss. Joe does not seem like a violent hot-head and so Matthews goes to see the boss...who is in the hospital. He insists Joe should rot in jail and it's obvious the boss IS a big hot-head. As for the boss' daughter, Mary, she's a bit of a drip. Although she and Joe are engaged, she seems to be stuck being loyal to a hard-headed father. However, as usual, Matthews is able to find a witness and they learn the truth.
This episode has a couple strikes against it. First, Mary is an annoying and meely-mouthed character. Why Joe would love her is odd as she really wouldn't stand up for him. Second, and far worse, Mary's father is even less believable than Bluto from the "Popeye" cartoons--though very similar in temperament to Bluto! Had the story been a bit more believable, there would have been some suspense. A sub-par episode from an otherwise decent 1950s series.
