Storyline

The seemingly random murder of a jogger in woodland and the detonation of car bombs in central Ystad are but diversions to busy the police whilst a security van is robbed of 15 million kroner. Isabelle and Portus witness this and give chase but are attacked by the criminals and hospitalized. Given the security firm's meticulous contingency plan Wallander suspects a leak from the inside and aims for Micke Sterner,a compulsive gambler and the only staff member to know the encoded transit schedules. But some private sleuthing by over-worked Svartman, who has found the robbers' den, and Wallander's suspicions of an ex-cop turned security officer with connections to the firm provide the real break-through. Security leaks are leading to bold large-scale holdups of vehicles transporting cash
4 June 2012 | by (United States) – See all my reviews

In this and the previous episode, we are getting a bit of bias or animus against the private sector or the market economy. Perhaps this is to be expected coming from Sweden, one of the most socialized societies on the planet. In one case, there was feeling against the resale of hospital equipment. In this episode, Kurt is "tempted" to go into more lucrative private security works. And there is corruption in that too, for a security employee is evidently getting paid a bribe to reveal which of three trucks are decoys and which will really be carrying a large cache of cash.

The robbers operate boldly with explosions and diversions. Pontus and Isabell chase them, exposing themselves to much danger.

Pontus, played by Sverir Gudnason, is getting larger parts and we are learning more of what makes him tick. He is burdened. He sulks. He has a hidden resentment. This makes him distant at times, but he is very bright and not at all lacking in courage. In fact, he is almost foolhardy once he plunges in to a dangerous situation.

Who is the security leak? And where will the robbers strike next? These provide the main suspense in an average entry in the series.
