Storyline

As Halloween approaches, Castle and Beckett are called to a graveyard where the body of a young man sporting vampire fangs has been discovered with a wooden stake driven through his heart. Their investigation takes them deep into the heart of New York's underground vampire fetish community, where they learn that the motive for the victim's murder may be hiding within the pages of the graphic novel he was writing before his death. Great self-referencing Firefly laugh for fans
15 April 2016 | by (United States) – See all my reviews

Right from the start you know this is a fun episode as Castle bursts through the door wearing his Halloween costume: A space cowboy outfit that his daughter chides him for wearing as A) there are no cows in space; B) He wore the same outfit five years ago; and C) It's time for him to move on. Great self-referencing Firefly laugh for fans. And then there is the mystery: who put a stake through the body of a wannabe vampire fan; A fan who altered his teeth into fangs. And the clues may be in the pages of a comic book the victim was working on. The suspect they first pick up, Morlock (Robert Arbogast) suffers from a type of porphyria also know as Vampire Disease. To complicate matters a second victim is found, this one dressed as a werewolf. And as the crew is attempting to solve the murders, they are also preparing for one of Castle's legendary Halloween parties. A good mystery to solve with a great tongue-in-cheek subplots.
