As a trained chef with a culinary degree, at first glance I was like, eh. But I've grown to love these guys and the dude CAN cook!
You'll see he does mostly smash burgers, steaks, various dry age and grilling experiments, as well as side dishes and sous vide on his other channel. Just as any cooks/chefs would think at first, like Gordon Ramsey, you come upon a crazy experiment video and you're like, is this guy for real?! But then over time you begin to see not only is there some good science going on there, but you also begin to see that Guga is no one trick pony. He can cook! He cooks amazing steaks, briskets, and side dishes, and all kinds of things. Sure, like many cooks and chefs, he specializes in meats and such. But this doesn't mean that he doesn't have a well rounded understanding of cooking. This is just where he shines, where he's in his pocket doing his thang! But I can extrapolate that he has a deep love and appreciation of cooking and cuisine, and I'm sure he could whip up pasta or Chinese food or whatever too! The food here looks divine, but what keeps me coming back to this channel is the fun crazy experiments, but more than that, the people. I really like all of them. Guga is warm and friendly, his cousins are fun and compliment the show well. It's just nice to see this day and age people still infatuated with food and proper food preparation, but also, the celebration of life that brought me to cooking to begin with. If it ain't festive, if it ain't fun, if it doesn't celebrate regional and ethnic heritage and cuisine than it ain't the culinary arts. Culinary arts has sometimes become this frufru ridiculous thing, but it doesn't have to be. The whole reason I went to culinary school was because I loved the idea of food, folks, and fun... Where have I heard that before?! But it's true. Food should be a thing of love, friendship, comradery, and of appreciation of life, the earth and the soil, and for the finer things in life, but also, the simple things in life as well. I can watch this channel all day.
