McCarthy & Bateman Traveling at Odds in a New 'Identity Thief' Trailer

18 December 2012 10:15 AM, PST | firstshowing.net | See recent FirstShowing.net news »

The first trailer for Identity Thief set up the game with Jason Bateman tracking down Melissa McCarthy, a woman living the high life by stealing his identity. Now a new trailer for the film from Horrible Bosses director Seth Gordon gives us even more laughs and some new plot information. In addition to the difficult task of getting McCarthy to the cops back home, there's some dangerous people in pursuit. Plus, we get a glimpse of the sidetracks that include a saucy cowboy played by Eric Stonestreet ("Modern Family"). Hopefully Gordon brings a comedy every bit as good as Horrible Bosses, or even better. Here's the first trailer for Seth Gordon's Identity Theft, originally from Apple: Unlimited funds have allowed Diana (Melissa McCarthy) to live it up near Miami, buying whatever strikes her fancy. There’s only one glitch: The ID she’s using belongs to “Sandy Bigelow Patterson »

The film is directed by Seth Gordon from a screenplay written by Craig Mazin.

Unlimited funds have allowed Diana (McCarthy) to live it up on the outskirts of Miami, where the queen of retail buys whatever strikes her fancy. There’s only one glitch: The ID she’s using to finance these sprees reads “Sandy Bigelow Patterson”… and it belongs to an accounts rep (Bateman) who lives halfway across the U.S.

Led by Jason Bateman and Melissa McCarthy, Identity Thief is by far one of the more promising comedies coming our way next year.

Jason Bateman and Melissa McCarthy are teaming up to bring you some knock-down, drag-out laughs in their new film Identity Thief from Horrible Bosses helmer, Seth Gordon, and today we've got a brand new trailer to share.  Chock full of the typical Bateman straight-guy shtick and the physical comedy of McCarthy, this is perhaps one of the most brilliant and unlikely team ups in recent memory.  Normally, I'd save something like this for home viewing, but it looks big, fast, »

Saturday Night Live Highlights & Recap: Host Jamie Foxx

10 December 2012 8:00 AM, PST | ScreenRant.com | See recent Screen Rant news »

The last time Jamie Foxx hosted Saturday Night Live, the musical guest was Blink 182 – so that should give you some idea of how long ago that was. Foxx’s return to SNL coincides with his new movie, Django Unchained, hitting theaters later this year.

Of course, Foxx is no stranger to sketch comedy. Early in his career, he worked on In Living Color with the likes of Damon Wayans and Jim Carrey. And for all Foxx’s serious roles like Ray, there’s some solid comedy appearances in movies like Horrible Bosses (which also starred SNL cast member Jason Sudeikis). His return to SNL was definitely fun, and we’ve got some of the highlights below including the best, worst and weirdest sketches, complete with a few awesome surprise guest appearances.Click to continue reading Saturday Night Live Highlights & Recap: Host Jamie Foxx

Will Ferrell To ‘Get Hard’ With Kevin Hart

10 December 2012 2:00 AM, PST | The Hollywood News | See recent The Hollywood News news »

No, we haven’t turned into some sleazy gossip mag. Get your minds out of the gutter for a second. We are of course referring to Get Hard in the sense of becoming tough, strong, and threatening. In the film, which is reportedly about to be picked up by Warner Bros., we will see Will Ferrell as an investment banker wrongly convicted of a crime, and being taught by the guy who washes his car (Kevin Hart) how to be ‘hard’. The script is said to be written by Ian Roberts and Jay Martel. I’m not one to judge a film straight off the bat, but I’m predicting a little bit of backlash with the idea of a black character having to teach a white man how to get ready for prison. The idea of the wealthy investment banker being innocent is also a tad suspicious in terms of the film’s morals. »

Margin Call

Directed by J.C. Chandor

Written by J.C. Chandor

2011, USA

It’s taken a while – almost four years by my calendar – but eventually the dire progenitors of the age of austerity seem to have finally percolated into the emissions of the dream factory. Whilst the likes of The Company Men, Up In The Air and even Horrible Bosses offer obtuse takes on the slow disintegration of the current financial ideology, zeroing in the individual symptoms rather than the brooding cancer at the core, after the Oscar success of Inside Job the path seems clear for a fictional tale on the 2008 commercial devastation foisted on the world by the 1% and their ambitious acolytes. I’ve always found this cabalistic world immensely fascinating, having worked at one of these firms for a few years back in the noughties any audit of the seductive world of elite commerce is destined to broker my interest, »

First Pacific Rim footage offers a glimpse of a Kaiju attack on San Francisco

Last week it seemed we'd seen our first footage from filmmaker Guillermo del Toro's upcoming giant monster movie Pacific Rim via a promotional video for del Toro's VFX company Mirada. While that ultimately proved to be a false alarm, the film's viral marketing campaign has now stepped into gear with the release of a faux news report containing footage of a Kaiju attack on San Francisco.

A homage to Japanese 'kaiju' movies, Pacific Rim sees mankind threatened by a legion of monstrous creatures, leading to a war that costs millions of lives. To combat the threat of the Kaiju, special weapons are constructed - giant robots known as Jaegers - which are controlled by two human pilots. On the verge of defeat, the fate of humanity rests on the shoulders of two unlikely heroes, a washed up former pilot (Charlie Hunnam; Sons of Anarchy) and a rookie (Rinko Kikuchi »
