‘Veep’ Star Matt Walsh Joins Melissa McCarthy’s ‘Life of the Party’ (Exclusive)

25 August 2016 10:15 AM, PDT | Variety - TV News | See recent Variety - TV News news »

Veep” star Matt Walsh has been cast in Melissa McCarthy’s 2018 comedy flick “Life of the Party,” Variety has learned exclusively.

Walsh will play McCarthy’s on-screen husband, Dan. He joins co-stars Gillian Jacobs, Jackie Weaver, Debby Ryan and Maya Rudolph.

The plot is being kept under wraps, other than having a similar tone to the late Rodney Dangerfield’s 1986 film “Back to School.” The only other details to surface so far are McCarthy’s character name, Deanna, and the description of Walsh’s character — he is “always wearing golf pants.”

“McCarthy wrote “Life of the Party” with her husband Ben Falcone, who will direct the pic. Mike Disco (“Horrible Bosses”) and David Siegel (“The Hangover”) will serve as executive producers on the New Line Cinema film. Chris Henchy, who was a producer on McCarthy’s “Tammy” and “The Boss,” will produce alongside McCarthy and Falcone.

Life of the Party” hits theaters on May 11, 2018.

‘Sausage Party’ Behind-The-Scenes Clip: Seth Rogen And Composers Discuss The Film’s Score

16 August 2016 3:39 PM, PDT | Indiewire | See recent Indiewire news »

The adult animated film “Sausage Party” was released last Friday to initial commercial and critical success. The film follows Frank, a sausage (played by Seth Rogen) who resides in a supermarket aisle, who discovers the truth about what happens when he and the other foods are brought to The Great Beyond, i.e. a kitchen in a customer’s home, and tries to warn all of his friends about their impending doom. While the film has garnered a reputation for its raunchy humor and theological underpinnings, one element that has gone largely unnoticed is its score. Watch an exclusive behind-the-scenes clip from the film featuring Rogen, co-directors Greg Tiernan and Conrad Vernon, and composers Alan Menken and Christopher Lennertz discuss the film’s score.

Uncharted Movie Roars Back to Life with New Writer Joe Carnahan

29 July 2016 4:03 PM, PDT | MovieWeb | See recent MovieWeb news »

After nearly seven years in development, Sony's Uncharted movie adaptation is moving forward once again. The studio has brought on writer-director Joe Carnahan to write the script for this video game adaptation, but unfortunately he won't be directing at this time. The filmmaker stated that he would love to direct this project "in a perfect world," but right now, he's only set to write the script.

The last we heard about this project was in June 2015, when Seth Gordon dropped out as the director. Variety reports that Joe Carnahan's involvement with Sony's Bad Boys 3, which starts filming early next year after Will Smith wraps on Bright, makes the filmmaker unavailable to direct. Here's what Joe Carnahan told the site about this project.

"In a perfect world I would love to do both, but right now, I'm only on board to write the script. Archaeology today is in itself an antiquity, »

Marvel Studios Press Release Reveals That Spider-man: Homecoming Has Way More Writers Than Expected

25 July 2016 2:20 PM, PDT | ComicBookMovie.com | See recent ComicBookMovie news »

Missed during the busy Comic-Con weekend, the press release from Marvel Studios which accompanied the first Spider-Man: Homecoming concept art has revealed that an awful lot of cooks have been in the reboot's kitchen. While it was thought that the team of Jonathan Goldstein and John Francis Daley (Horrible Bosses, Vacation) wrote the screenplay alone, we know now that director Jon Watts also contributed (his writing credits include the movies he's directed like Clown and Cop Car). Christopher Ford worked on that draft alongside the filmmaker, and he actually teamed with Watts on the movies listed above and wrote Robot & Frank alone. Finally, one more writing team mentioned is Chris McKenna and Erik Sommers. They worked on the upcoming Jumanji reboot together, while Sommers most recently penned The Lego Batman Movie. He's also written for TV shows like Happy Endings and American Dad. McKenna meanwhile has written many of Community's best episodes. »

Has 'Justice League' Found A Star To Play Villain Steppenwolf?

6 July 2016 7:53 AM, PDT | LatinoReview | See recent LatinoReview news »

"We're not completely closed. We're close!"

That's what Justice League producer Deborah Snyder said during a recent set visit in London. She was responding to questions about whether or not the production had cast anyone to play the film's central villain, Steppenwolf, yet.

The production revealed Steppenwolf would be the main villain for Justice League, and a deleted scene from Batman V Superman: Dawn Of Justice even offered up a glimpse of what the character will look like.

Some were caught off guard by the notion that they hadn't yet cast someone to play such a pivotal role, considering that interview was conducted on the 31st day of production. You had to imagine she wasn't exaggerating when she said said how "close" they were to making a deal, because they kind of had to be.

So who could they get? Warner Bros. has a long, storied history when it comes »

Tuesday nights of comedy begin Tuesday, Sept. 20 with the return of Brooklyn Nine-nine, New Girl and Scream Queens. Entering its fourth season, Brooklyn Nine-nine (8:00-8:30 Pm Et/Pt) returns after a season finale cliffhanger in which Detective Jake Peralta (Andy Samberg) and his by-the-book boss, Captain Holt (Andre Braugher), were forced to enter the federal witness protection program. Empire (9:00-10:00 Pm Et/Pt), broadcast television’s biggest hit, is a powerful drama about a family at the center of a music dynasty. This season, Empire Entertainment founder Lucious Lyon (Terrence Howard) sets his sights on a new streaming service; as his ex-wife, Cookie Lyon (Golden Globe Award winner and Emmy Award nominee Taraji P. All-new episodes of Rosewood return, followed by the series premiere of Pitch, beginning Thursday, Sept. 22. Set against the vibrant backdrop of one of the world’s hottest cities – Miami – medical procedural Rosewood (8:00-9:00 Pm Et/Pt) enters its second season as top private pathologist Dr. Beaumont Rosewood, Jr. (Morris Chestnut) and tough-as-nails Detective Annalise Villa (Jaina Lee Ortiz) solve the Miami Pd’s most challenging cases.
