Eric is back on the job. When Lucy dies of sudden poisoning, the first suspect is her fiancé Ethan Durant. While the team traces her fatal e. coli infection to the greens supplier, Sheldon Parks's firm, Ethan enters a toxic coma himself, but his germ terms out to be botulism. Jesse's field team has to use alternative methods to work out the infection, absent from the fields, stems from irrigation water. Horatio tackles Jerry Mackey's pseudo-bio company, which controls Parks. Written by KGF Vissers

There is a difference between forensic DNA fingerprinting, where you detect the number of certain typical sequences in a given genome, and gene sequencing, where you spell out complete genes or even genomes one base pair after the other. Ms Boa Vista's lab work leading to the botulism conclusion is a complete fairy tale, especially given the time frame; this job could keep a research team busy for months. See more »

Detective Frank Tripp: Then we got a paradox, 'cause I didn't start chasing you until you started running.

e.coli = Bad News
27 February 2011 | by (United States) – See all my reviews

Did the boyfriend murder a woman he was about to propose to? That's the question after the opening scene.

(Before I forget, it was nice to see Adam Rodriquez ("Eric Delko") back to work and see former ME "Dr. Alex Woods (Khandi Alexander).

Anyway, the story quickly becomes one of huge significance, a word that strikes fear into many people: e.coli. If a food is contaminated with that bacteria and you've eaten it, you've got major food poisoning and major medical problems, many times death. The CSI team goes to great lengths to find the source of this deadly bacterium, from people, to restaurants, to trucks, to farms....wherever, someone or something is contaminating some food, whether by accident or on purpose.

The persistence of the CSI team is shown here as they go from one spot to another to unravel the case, especially since the boyfriend now has apparently been poisoned, too! As a sidebar, at the end of the show is a shocking revelation by "Eric Delko."
