Sarah Jane and Peter end up in a white room, a void where Peter tells her that he nearly died but the Trickster saved him and struck up a deal if he married Sarah Jane. He had no idea that any harm would be done to her or her friends. The Trickster explains his plan - to give Sarah Jane a new life so that she would forget her old one as a guardian of the Earth and make it vulnerable to the likes of him. The Doctor, K9, Rani and the boys have been trapped in a similar void but eventually make contact with Sarah Jane. Sadly, the only way for the Trickster to be defeated is for Peter to end the deal and to sacrifice himself. He was only living a half-life but marriage to Sarah Jane would have made it whole. Strengthened by his love for Sarah Jane,he agrees to his death in the knowledge that it will make the world more secure. Sarah Jane is understandably heart-broken but Doctor Who consoles her, telling her that she still has a wonderful life ahead of her and asking her never to forget ... Written by don @ minifie-1

Did You Know?

Although David Tennant's appearance in this episode as the Doctor is in the same chronology as the series Doctor Who, it was actually filmed several months after he finished filming "The End of Time Part 2," making this the last time he actually played the part of the Doctor. See more »

The Trickster: Doctor!
The Doctor: Ah. You look better in black. Or is white the new black?
The Trickster: At last, Doctor. I can feel this moment reverberating back through the ages. The meeting of the Pantheon of Discord and the last of the Time Lords.
The Doctor: I've known the legends of the Pantheon since I was a little boy. I've fought your shadows and your chain links, I never thought we'd actually meet.
The Trickster: And I know the legends of the Doctor. The man of ice and fire, who walked among gods, once held the key to time in his hands. Now, he is ...

Excellent, best episode of the lot!!!!
14 January 2012 | by (United Kingdom) – See all my reviews

Gareth Roberts has done it once again for the Sarah Jane adventures and wrote the best story of the series. I wished this was the finale of the series because this 2 part story was just pure genius, couldn't fault it what-so-ever. The again poignant ending which Sarah Jane knew it would probably come to but she tries to avoid is although predictable as it's been the way out for the other episode involving the Trickster, still hits the spot and packs a great emotional punch that some episodes can lack. Nigel Haver's acting is brilliant and, despite him believing the Trickster to be an angel and allowing him to hypnotise Sarah Jane, you can tell his character (Peter Dalton) loves Sarah and wants to marry her. The other fantastic performances came from of course David Tennant as 'The Doctor' and Elisabeth Slayden. The three kids were still great but due to this episode being more based on Sarah Jane's choice and her love of Peter, they kind of seemed to take a back seat (which i thought was a good thing for the episode). Overall a 10/10 from me absolutely amazing!!!
