United States Tag Team Championship

The Fantastics Vs Ron Simmons & Eddie Gilbert

Both teams are babyfaces. The Fantastics win the titles. This was a LONG and very inconsistent match. There were moments of excitement that were sustained, but that was negated by plenty of boredom. There were far too many rest holds in this match. The Fantastics spent a LOT of this match working over Gilbert's injured arm. This match is just too long.

**1/2

"Dr. Death" Steve Williams (W/Kevin Sullivan & Mike Rotunda) Vs The Italian Stallion

Williams wins with the Oklahoma Stampede (running powerslam) This is another lengthy match that was rather boring to watch. I'm not all that familiar with the Italian Stallion, but he wasn't very good. We're not off to a good start.

*1/2

Magnum TA interviews The Junkyard Dog.

Ivan Koloff Vs Paul Jones

Koloff is wrestling with one arm tied behind his back. Koloff wins after using Jones foreign object on him behind the ref's back. The Russian Assassins attack Koloff after the match until The Junkyard Dog makes the save. For what this was, it was fine. It was a tad slow-moving, but I knew what to expect going in, and that helped me some. You can't take matches like these seriously.

*

Roadwarrior Animal (W/Paul Ellering) Vs Dusty Rhodes

The match almost ends as quickly as it starts when Hawk runs in and attacks Dusty until Sting runs in and makes the save. Dusty nails Animal in the knee with a chair to get revenge on Animal for what the did to Dusty's eye. Man, it's so weird seeing The Road Warriors as heels. I know they are good at it, but it's still weird. The match is really too short to give this a fair rating.

*

The Midnight Express (W/Jim Cornette) Vs Ric Flair & Barry Windham (W/JJ Dillon)

Flair and Windham win after Flair drills Bobby Eaton with Dillon's shoe. This is a very good main event. It was consistently exciting from 4 wrestlers who know how to put on a show. It's not a classic, but it's a very good match.

***1/2

Jim Cornette says he has great respect for Ric Flair. He wanted to let all four wrestlers go at it and see what happens. Cornette is very disappointed that Flair would stoop that low to attain victory. Cornette says he wants a rematch with Flair and Windham.

5/10 overall.
