Garbage. Fake in many ways
jhamill9927 October 2009
Warning: Spoilers
Once again another reality TV show that is not even real.

To start off what you see on this show is FAKE. There is a disclaimer saying the show is based on true events. In the show the repo men themselves break many many laws in the process. They cannot disturb the peace and they should know that. Headlocking people, throwing them to the ground and pepper spraying them is completely uncharacteristic of a repo man yet it seems to happen every show in every clip.

The part that set me off was when a dwarf aka little person was riding shotgun with one of the repo men. They of course get into the predictable argument and brawl with the other party, but out of nowhere the dwarf pops out of the back of the truck and puts one of the guys in a front head and arm choke. Utterly dumb and unbelievable.

My advice? Don't waste your time with this show. It's Jerry Springer material.

It's Unbelievable!...No, really.
lobomcthirsty13 May 2011
This show is the same show you will watch when you see any of the other truTV (a more ironic name there has yet to be) shows, such as Southern Fried Stings, All Worked Up and Hardcore Pawn.

Right from the start, a sort of fabricated atmosphere clings it's self to the program that can not be shaken. There are never any situations involving a hint of normalcy, to the point where in order to believe it one would have to assume that the city of Los Angeles has one repo agency of about four or five people doing hundreds--if not thousands--of repossessions within the span of a week. Either that, or normal people simply do not exist in LA (and as a New Yorker, I know this just opens up for all sorts of rimshot-worthy cracks).

But even if it were not fake--which the show tries to excuse by claiming they are "re-enactments"--this would qualify as the worst-run business on planet Earth. It's simply unreal to see Luis seriously try to run a business where many of the employees are not just antagonistic, but downright combative with the people they are supposedly repossessing from. Which I figure is about the same as zoo keepers smacking bears with sticks for yucks.

But it is fake. And fake or real, it's part of a disturbing trend in reality TV; focusing on the misery and desperation of others for the sake of entertainment. And in a time in our nation's history when so many are getting foreclosed on and having property repossessed by predatory loan companies, this sort of thing is not just insensitive, it's cruel. truTV is cruel for making it, and whoever has been watching it for the past eight or so seasons is even worse. Congratulations; I hope the bottom of that barrel is comfortable.

Real repo cases dramatized for TV.
jmat4025 April 2021
Of course the show itself is "fake". They have a disclaimer saying that the show is based on real cases with actors playing the debtors.

I liked everyone on the show with the exception of Lyndah Pizarro who is Lou Pizarro's daughter. She is easily the most unlikeable person on the show. She needs taught some lessons in how to treat people and stop being a princess. Spoiled little brat.

One of the worst shows I have ever seen.
freezing_ice_kirby-122 September 2009
Warning: Spoilers
I happen to come upon this show a while back while flipping through the channels, and decided to give it a chance.

...Wow...

It's amazing, because just about every episode is exactly the same thing; The Repo team comes to take away someone's vehicle, things always go well at first, then the owner(s) come out screaming like wild banshees and everyone gets into a huge fight. There have been some episodes that are just beyond unbelievable, like the one where Matt wrecks one of the cars that they were repossessing because he turned the corner too fast. Why did he turn the corner so fast? Because he had to go to the bathroom, so he decided to go faster than the speed limit, ignore stop signs, etc. Nobody in their right mind is going to do something so stupid like that. Another episode involved them repossessing this car from these construction workers; the construction worker got so mad that he told his buddy to take their Excavator and destroy the car... not the repo's car, but their OWN CAR... and he's going "YEAH! TAKE THAT!" after it was totally destroyed... seriously? And these were episode highlights...

From what I understand, the shows are BASED on actual events, but reenacted, made to be dramatic, and everything is scripted. The show can barely be taken serious, and I find myself laughing at the show most of the time because it is so ridiculous.

Stay away... stay far away from this repo show.

Scraping the bottom of the barrel
FilmBum12 April 2010
To say that Luis Pizarro doesn't have an inventive bone in his body barely begins to explain the failure of Operation Repo, a program well in a league with the worst shows currently on television. Filled with unrealistic scenarios, ultra-predictable, clichéd moments and extremely repetitive plot lines, this 'reenacted reality' show fails to deliver on all levels.

So basic is the format of this one-trick pony, that every episode can easily be summed in one sentence: Several large, non attractive people drive around looking for a vehicle to repossess and quickly enter into a conflict with an entirely non-believable caricature of a person or persons after which they drive away and repeat the same cycle.

Programs like this used to be confined to once-per-week, late night viewing, in timeslots which would ensure few people would ever tune in. It's a testament to how baseline television programming has become that this would air during the early evenings on any station.

Overall, if you are looking for a mindless, unfunny, thinly-believable show in which you might find Latin American repo-men freaking out at the sight of tinfoil swords possessed by a gang of medieval, role playing geeks, or in which taxi drivers - about to have their only source of income repossessed - suddenly start moonwalking backwards and singing the best of Michael Jackson (that's exactly what happens when people have their backs against the wall, right?), then watch this show. If you have a hard time believing that a group of uniformed, high school football jocks, in the middle of practice, would suddenly pull out handguns to protect their buddy's car, then you're probably too smart for this show.

Repo Fake
elvis5821 July 2011
If it wasn't for the fact that it is all filmed in my Chatsworth neighborhood, i might have believed it to be somewhat real .... but every week they arrive at the same Commercial area in Chatsworth to start filming ...

Oh, they might drive a block or two to a residential area to add a little "realism" to the boring episodes, but FAKE it is, folks ...

Too bad they couldn't afford REAL Aftra actors .... but with such a low budget show, I'm surprised they can pay for Craft Services!!

Having been a REAL Repo man for a decade in L.A., as well as a licensed tow truck operator, i can tell this so-called "show" doesn't even have a technical adviser on the payroll..

It's just a waste of TV time ..... but the no-talent actors must be happy, free food, fat paycheck ..and the idea that you go home each night "thinking" you have acting ability.

Ridiculous and, dare I say it, fake
TheLittleSongbird4 October 2010
People who know me will probably be asking what am I doing reviewing let alone watching Operation Repo. Well I had heard it was awful, so being me I gave it a chance expecting garbage to be honest just to be fair like I try to be.

Well, despite me saying I try to be fair, Operation Repo doesn't even deserve that. Because in my honest opinion, this show is absolutely awful, and I do agree with the other reviewers about how ridiculous and fake it is. The writing is what makes the show so what it is, it is so ridiculous and fake, while the episodes are incredibly repetitive, is it me or does every episode feel like the same thing over and over. The way of filming is really quite amateur, the main theme is horrible and quite forgettable and how Operation Repo is acted out and presented doesn't impress me either as it constantly feels overplayed.

Overall, I strongly dislike this show for several reasons. In fact, while maybe not quite the worst show out there it is for me one of the worst. 1/10 Bethany Cox

Warning: Spoilers
This is beyond fake, words cannot even describe that.

From the start of this show, you can already tell something is wrong. Every episode is very fabricated with something out of the ordinary happening, just like on Southern Fried Stings and Hardcore Pawn. There is NEVER anything in these episodes that you would probably see happen with a real interaction in the repossession business, it's always something to grab your attention such as people attacking them for no real reason, people with guns that never shoot them, naked people, and so on.

First off, IF this was real, Lou would not let Matt act like the idiot he is on every episode. Matt would be under his insurance, and believe me, the way he attacks people, and destroys their items, Lou would be VERY scared of getting sued by people after every scene, this of course don't happen.

In one episode they repo a canoe. Most repo businesses get paid around $400-$500 dollars per repo. It's not a thousand dollar business, and I am talking about cars. So why would Lou want to repo something that he isn't going to get paid that well for? Canoe's are cheap.

Another way to tell it's fake is, ALL State laws say the repos must be peaceful. We all know there isn't a single repo on that show that is not out of the blue crazy. If local cops do get involved with a repo as it has occurred sometimes on this show, they do not tell repo men they can collect the car and leave. They are forced to leave if the repo does not go down peacefully. On that show, when all hell breaks loose, they still let them take the car, hence the law.

Last but not least, look at their "Tow truck" it's a Ford F-250 with an assembly to the back. never seen a towing company use that before for a real repo.

Possibly the worst TV show ever
benjipotter40023 January 2014
1 star out of 10 is generous. This show is so terrible that I challenge anyone to sit through a whole episode of this trash. The re-enacted scenes are poorly scripted (most likely just ad libbed) and possibly contain the worst actors (obviously unpaid) to ever get jobs in TV history.

To add drama, the scenarios played out are exaggerated to the point of stupidity.

If you are considering watching this show, you would be better off sitting in a dark room and gouging your eyes out with a broken rotted stick, while plugging your ears with power drills.

This is what happened to Court TV
sosapierce17 April 2012
Around the same time Court TV became TruTV, this show came about. If it's not broke don't fix it. My only guess is that if Court TV was a success they wouldn't have changed it. The name TruTV is a wink-and-nod that "true" stories don't matter anymore as much as entertainment. At the start of every episode, the viewers are informed that the events are inspired by real events with some names changes. IMDb has this show in the category of "Fictional Reality TV", a genre I hadn't known of before. Unlike regular sitcoms or dramas the expectations are different. It gets the lowest number possible because I don't enjoy these kind of reenactments.

Garbage. Worst show ever.
horskampjoost1 April 2018
This show is so sad. I created an account here to write this review. Possibly this show is fake. If it is not: it is the most unprofessional horrible show ever. Both ways its bad. The guys here have to get cars from people who didn't pay. They do this at evenings when people go out. Or at night when someone is in the middle of nowhere, camping. Idk. So sad.

A ripper of a show
shewanj9 January 2016
Great show. Initially I thought 'what a crock' a show full of cromagnon repossession thugs but I must admit the storyline and the characters grow on you. Matt - a heavy looking dude really grows in depth as a person as does the whole cast,, and Froy, Sonja & Lou. Overall that I loved every minute of the show including the weirdo characters subject of the repossessions. The bad word would be for the financiers calling for repossession after only one month of arrears in many circumstances and for financing persons whom they should know have no capacity or willingness to maintain repayment schedules. Some questionable product quality is also evident. Nonetheless the responses encountered from the debtors is an eye- opener and great entertainment. I couldn't get enough. I would hope that all the crew in the cast go on to great success. An absolute insight. Thanks for the show !

completely fake

Warning: Spoilers
The gongorilla named matt is a b-list actor. The show is a joke with people, in some cases, destroying their own cars. The fights are so unbelievable and the cast has some of the ugliest people on unreality TV. They are all obese, smart asses and Matt does his fake roid rage bit like 5 times an episode. He would be such a liability that nobody would truly employ that guy. If it were real, he would have been arrested after the first episode. I saw an episode where Matt lies to cops about a guy who is breaking out the windows of his own car because he's mad about it being repo'd. Matt tells the cop that the guy physically attacked him and his crew. So he basically filed a false police report. After the scene Matt turns to the camera and says "I seem to have a great rapport with the police". There's not one person on that show that I would like to meet unless it was to slap the sh..t out of them. Matt included

Updated review
jmat4022 May 2021
Warning: Spoilers
I've been watching Operation Repo in IMDb TV. I had watched it years ago when it was on TruTV.

The only people that are likable on this show are Froy and Sonia and in its later years Ronnie.

Lou, Matt and Linda are very unlikable. All Matt ever wants to do is act like an ass and fight. He gets knocked on his butt more than a few times for someone who acts like such a tough guy moron. Linda and her dad Lou is a real knucklehead and his daughter Linda has no business being involved. Spoiled brat.

I never heard of a Repo team that provokes so much violence. There is truly no way this was any kind of legitimate Repo company.

I dropped the rating from 4 stars to 2.

Too painful to sit through a whole show.
sorrowmore14 April 2013
If this is reality, I want no part of it. I enjoy a little Lizard Lick once in a while so decided to give this one a squint. Good thing I only risked one eye and then for only 10 minutes. I was so repulsed, blood was squirting out of my head.

The girls, term "girls" used loosely, not being sure from what part of the animal kingdom they hail, are excruciatingly unattractive. "UGLY" does not begin to describe these behemoths! That and the way they see themselves as attractive is just more than my sensibilities can tolerate. In the real world, that would be considered bestiality!

As for the rest of the cast? Unintelligent, uneducated, illiterate, and as equally repulsive. What a cruel parody on humanity, yeah, civilization.

Please, Cancel this show. Exposing the public to this nonsense is cruel and unusual punishment. The scenarios, as well as the humans in this are just too far out there to believe. If you have a room temperature IQ and are as ugly as a mud fence plastered in Polly wogs, grab some chips & beers and settle in. Seriously!!

Muahahahhahhhahhahahaahhahahahaahahaaahahahhahahaahaahahaaa!

Epicly bad crap show.
satanclaw25 April 2013
The concept of this show has a lot of promise, I mean, a camera team following a tow company would be awesome. But as everybody knows by now, the show is just crap, filled with scripted dribble, bad, really bad acting, over zealous acting, I just can't stand the obviously fictional story, bad. BAD stuff, anyone into towing, cars, trucks and similar, please stay clear, your will just be mind numbed. I have asked myself many times, what is the point of this show? There are a lot of bad scripted reality shows out there, but this is one of the absolute worst. Having the same two fake police officers in one episode after another should give you a clue regarding the lack of imagination behind this show.

Quite possibly the worst POS show ever made...
scott-harvey-264-14377123 October 2014
This has got to be the worst of all the reality shows and that really says something about it. Everything about it is fake and the acting is so over the top and horrible. They would be fired from acting in a school play, that's how pitifully bad this show is.

Avoid at all costs. Mow the grass, pound sand, watch paint dry, anything would be more fulfilling than watching this tripe.

This line is just filler so that I can post my review. I've said enough about how bad this show is and it still wants 10 lines of text. I cannot think of anything other than redundant words and synonyms for how bad this show is.

Pro Wrestling if it were about the Repo business
redactedprofile1 April 2022
Warning: Spoilers
I love seeing all the reviews "it's fake it's fake!" That's kinds of a double edge sword though. Ya of course it's fake, real life is far more boring. In these kinds of shows, actors are to create bombastic larger-than-life personalities to replace the real life boring professionals. There's even a disclaimer saying so at the start of every episode.

But it wasn't the scripted nature of endless barrages of censored speech or the weird clients that hooked me in. It was the underpinning storyline and situational that's did. I started watching today at the episode Froy was arrested at the airport, and his arc with immigration was just compelling to watch, especially over Matt and Froy went down to Texas. I knew exactly what I was watching, but I was hooked.. I needed to see what happened next!

Late night TV brought me here
adh-0885118 February 2023
I discovered this during a bout of insomnia and it's like some sort of fever dream. Morbidly obese repo people battle the worst actors in the world to take their cars, boats, or whatever they owe money on. I really think this is the worst show EVER.

The only reaction I had is to worry that the hugely obese Lou and his terrifying sister might very well have heart attacks during their super-fake incidents (re-enactments by those awful, awful actors) and die on the spot.

I guess the wide, squat Matt is supposed to be the muscle but he seems to do little other than posture and threaten like a dollar-store Hulk Hogan. I do congratulate all of them for reaching the very bottom of the lowest common denominator.

Adding to this disaster are the incredibly annoying non-stop bleeps, since Americans feel children might be watching this -really? - and no one, not even adults can hear all those bad words without keeling over in shock.

Your car is a part of you daily living
aleman0222 March 2013
Warning: Spoilers
This country is going thru a financial chaos. Well not for all, but a large number of people are working harder then before, to put food on their tables, pay they rent or mortgage, take care of their families, etc. How can you make a show of people that are barely making it?????????????

I understand that some of the people that, you take their cars are not responsible. But I bet you that most of them are just trying to survive. If from the producer down, you were in these people's shoes. How would you like to be on camera, when they take your car away and your job is an hour away from where you live?

If you have the money and the means to make a show. Why don't you make shows about, how parents can be better or kids to finish school, or perhaps nature shows. But of course you make more money, showing

people's misery

One of my FAVORITE shows!
westernmoviebuff24 October 2009
Scripted or not, this show is FUNNY! Of course they are going to show repo's that go wrong. Who would want to watch the 90% of them that are nothing more than hooking up and towing away? The relationship between Froy and Sonja is typical of ex's who still care about each other. Matt keep you laughing at his antics and it's always great to see him, the muscle guy, get knocked on his butt! Lou is the most believable of the crew. Of course he is the owner and the producer, but he is just himself. His relationship with his daughter seems very real. The way the debtors act is very real. Most are going to deny that they are behind on payments. After all, who wants to have their vehicle towed away, especially when the cameras are rolling. I'm not a big fan of "reality shows", but this is so different I can't help but watch every week. I can't imagine what they will do with the full length movie, but I'll be going for sure. This show is like Jerry Springer with a tow truck! Keep up the funny stuff guys!

Neat Show if you Can Stomach the Visuals
redtiger0224 February 2010
I have watched several episodes of this show and for the most part, it's an interesting show. I really don't like anything that makes light of people's troubles but that isn't the entertaining part. The entertainment value really comes in when you see the odd situations that people are in when they come to repo a vehicle. There's everything from pizza delivery guys throwing sauce to strange little guys caught in the middle of a bondage session, you never know what you're going to see, but it does show you just how much weirdness there is in the world. If there is any one significant complaint I have about the show it has to be the one lady on the show, Sonia(sp) I believe it is. She is just disturbing. There's nothing really that entertaining about watching a 500lb behemoth talking about how great and how pretty she thinks she is, I mean seriously, there's a limit. It has reached the point where I won't watch the show unless I have it on the DVR and can skip past the segments she's in because I find it really disturbing. If you watched the Drew Carey show back in the day and remember Mimi, a character specifically designed to make fun of the wayyyy too much makeup wearing, self-absorbed, totally unrealistic attitude types, well, Sonia is that to the extreme. It has nothing to do with her weight, it has everything to do with her attitude. It's disturbing and I would never let my daughter watch one of her segments because I wouldn't want her to think that an attitude like that was OK in any way, shape or form. Do we really need to see a 600lb gorilla with numerous indistinguishable tattoos, makeup resembling a good coating of Dutch Boy™ paint, wearing skin tight clothing while constantly berating and insulting other people while preaching her own greatness on TV? It's just disturbing. The other guys on the show seem pretty decent and it's interesting to watch their dynamic develop through the different episodes.

The bottom line is: It's an entertaining show, but you watch it without a DVR at your own risk. If tattooed, obnoxious gorillas with bleach blonde hair that resembles a dust mop that's past its prime, maybe you'll enjoy the parts I can't stand.

if you're into watching stupid ...
keefer-568661 July 2023
The owner claims to be an ex Marine, but if you watch his actions, I don't believe he even made it through boot camp. You watch the show long enough he just doesn't prepare. They have bullet proof vest, pepper spray, even a taser. The supposedly go into angry crowds, get in fights and they just want to go toe to toe. Then let his daughter get into questionable situations. Then he has his sister working repo, and she is just nasty / useless. You'd be better of watching a black screen.

You watch there strong arm get sprayed in the face with some sort of bug spray, their own truck gets stolen, even one of their own trucks get scraped at a junk yard. These guys are never prepared for what might happen... P P P.

Forget it. Read a book, go for a walk or do just about anything else.
sean088813 October 2011
How ironic. Some people like reality TV shows so now someone decides to make another show that pretends to be reality TV but in fact is totally FAKE and scripted/acted.

Basically, this would be an interesting show depicting some very strange and over the top scenes if it was truly real. The producers of the show have gone to great lengths to try and depict it as real life drama but of course it is all fake. Many of the concocted "repo" scenes are nothing short of totally ridiculous and are indicative of the lack of creativity of the writers and producers. All the "repo" scenes are scripted with actors in all parts. But of course the acting is dreadful as you might expect in a show like this. Watch a few episodes and you will see just how bad the acting is as well as recognizing that the characters are only performing a script.

Essentially the series is a waste of time. Why bother to watch third rate amateur class acting and amateur C grade scripts for a show that "pretends" to be reality. It's a performance and not a believable one at that.
