Harry Morgan's turn as an inept ship's cook
JordanThomasHall30 March 2017
The crew of the USS Appleby have become disgusted with the food from Louie (Joe Higgins), the ship's cook. Meanwhile Calucci (Ken Berry), a buddy of Ensign O'Toole's (Dean Jones) who is aboard a Navy minesweeper has O'Toole and Lt. St. John (Jack Mullaney) over to lunch. O'Toole and St. John delight in the food and conspire to get the minesweeper's cook Charlie (Harry Morgan, Col. Potter- "M*A*S*H"), not knowing Calucci ordered it from a nice restaurant because his cook is also terrible. O'Toole talks up how his cook can only prepare rich Italian dishes, and a transfer is arranged between the cooks. They quickly learn that the cooks "studied under the same arsonist". With an important dinner for the commodore (Stafford Repp, Police Chief O'Hara- "Batman"), O'Toole tries to revive Charlie's confidence.
